Apricot by Social Solutions

Apricot is well suited to help with output reporting. However, I don't believe it offers a narrative function. Apricot is well suited for capturing client intake, especially with is secure web form feature. However, it is not like GoogleForms where it can be used to either capture RSVP information or sign-in information for events or trainings.Apricot is well-suited for comparison reporting and discovering effort. However, I don't believe it has predictive features that can be leveraged.

iWave

iWave is a fantastic product for any size shop. We recently did a small screening of about 1000 records and were pleasantly surprised at how the results turned up new names we didn't realize were prospects based on the real estate values returned. The functionality of the screening has become easier and the returned results within the product has become much easier for the team to navigate. It is still a little bit cumbersome to sort through and delete gifts or real estate that do not belong to your prospect, but I have used other products that do not even give you that option! It is also really useful to have several options to be able to customize your screening.

Pros

  • Apricot by Social Solutions is very user-friendly. Staff training and use has been a breeze. Staff and volunteers very quickly pick up on the navigation which creates confidence and user empowerment.
  • Apricot by Social Solutions is flexible. Organizations can adjust the software to match their structure during the implementation phase and easily make adjustments on their own after implementation.
  • Apricot by Social Solutions is affordable. It is still a significant investment for an organization that has not previously purchased case management software, but in comparing twelve different software solution options, Apricot by far offered the greatest value.

Cons

  • A more mainstreamed method to record client data. At this time, our service providers are required to enter data in several sections of the program that can make data entry more cumbersome.
  • Creation of batch records for services would make data entry much better for our staff. At this time, if we provide a group counseling session, staff have to individually add the service to each client folder. When you have a group of 20-25, this is a timely process.
  • Technical support methods could be simplified with the addition of actually speaking to a tech support person instead of strictly relying on email communication. Lots can be lost in translation with this form of communication.
  • At times, it appears the servers that maintain all data are not functioning at the required capacity necessary to maintain the data. On more than one occasion, data entered would not actually show up until a day or days later, resulting in multiple entries of the same data.

  • iWave could improve in the area of connecting business affiliations and giving.
  • Given some of the new features -- e.g. batch screening -- it has taken me some time to get used how to export to the different screens. However, I've found their customer service to be excellent and they've helped me through some of the new features.

I went to the Summit a few weeks ago to learn about the future expansion and vision of Social Solutions. I already been with Apricot for 5 years and researched other products I still come back to Apricot and where it can grow with us.

iWave customer support is more responsive than most software platforms I currently use. My requests are always handled promptly, and support is incredibly responsive, friendly, and patient. Plus, I can always get someone on the phone immediately if I need a problem resolved right then and there. In addition to the live and personal support, the iWave knowledge base is frequently update with new content, including video webinars that help you become a more powerful user of the software.

Alternatives Considered

We choose Apricot because of its adaptability and customization. Our work is unique and other systems did not have the ability to capture what we needed in reports or documentation. We looked at home health documentation systems but they did not have the ability to customize to our work. Apricot is good start for us in cloud based documentation.

I've used all three of the above products -- and they are all good. It is hard to compare them, because it has been more than four years since I used them. At the time I switched to iWave, I found the user interfaces in the above programs less than optimal in terms of functionality. My sense is that all three have since improved their products.
