I would not recommend this product to anyone. This product is hard to manage, requires development in house which becomes expensive. The tool itself is extremely expensive for the features it delivers. And ultimately, the sales "bait and Switch" will occur on you, which will require you to buy more licenses or add-ins that were not planned on to get the desired feature set.

The full experience you get when working with SalesLoft is best in class. Our customer success manager really cares about our business and how we use SalesLoft to get better. We are always kept up to date with changes on their side that can help us get better. The product has evolved a lot over time and that is because they take customer feedback seriously. Recently, SalesLoft has been pushing for customer engagement for companies who use the product. It is great to speak with others who use the product and understand how we can mimic some of their strategy. As a sales manager, the live call studio is a game changer. Having the ability to listen in on live calls has allowed reps to ramp much quicker

Pros

  • Very good at complex pricing and situations. Pricing can be related (% of another value), based on an attribute, Tiered, or done with formulas. It also has the ability to bundle and use options.
  • Two great tools in the Apttus toolbox are X-Author and Intelligent workflows for approvals
  • Flexibility for multiple use cases for pricing

Cons

  • APTTUS CPQ has more than what we need but we're glad to know its there for when we need it

SalesLoft is a fantastic product that will be extremely helpful to any Sales Rep looking to organize their information and stay one step ahead. While it has its shares of quirks and bugs it proves to be an awesome tool for anyone that is in the sales industry.

Tier1/tier 2 support can only handle native functionality. Customizations have to be escalated to developers which aren’t included in the support program.

I go ahead and copy the people I directly worked with on implementation for assistance. I would rate them an 8 for support assistance.

Be iterative. Take the opportunity to build a catalog based on how Apttus works well. Learn the tool yourself or use an SI. Take the time to build a configuration / pricing migration tool with X-Author for Excel or roll your own. Stick with OOTB Apttus as any customization will cost you every time a new version is released

Alternatives Considered

We didn't [try] any other options. Finding a product to work with Excel and Salesforce was difficult and our only solution was Xauthor from Apttus.

Salesloft doesn’t necessary compete with Salesforce, but is a great supplement for those in a business development role. It increases efficiency and actually makes Salesforce a better product by giving you additional functionality you can use and integrate with it.

Return on Investment

  • Our new product from Apttus (XAuthor) has eliminated the errors that users were receiving prior to using Xauthor. Before we use to open Excel and retype what was already in Salesforce into the spreadsheet. Now that we have mapped the document and created an app, the user can click on the link in Salesforce to populate the Excel document and it saves the documents back to the Salesforce record without the user having to open Excel. That saves time and [reduces] errors. They are getting the IRR completed and approved in half the time.
