Veritas Backup Exec is a backup and disaster recovery solution. It works in virtual, physical, and multi-cloud environments and integrates with several third-party software releases and applications.
We previously used Veritas Backup Exec for our backup solutions. It uses USB 2.0 for a backup solution, which was very slow and unreliable to use as compared to Unitrends Data Backup and Recovery. Doing the backup over the network delivers a speedy backup, which is not possible …
Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery provide more features than Synology DiskStation. Unlike the Synology DiskStation it has instant recovery features and can backup databases, Microsoft SQL, etc. Both are capable of deduplication and compression and can backup VMWare …
Unitrends [Data Center Backup and Recovery] licensing is MUCH better than Veritas Backup Exec was, our previous backup solution. It is a cleaner install, much easier to keep current and is more logically deployed and managed. Unitrends is very much like a point and click …
Unitrends UB software makes management of backup sets very simple, Backup Exec was incredibly difficult to manage. It was reliable, but recovery was a daunting process, it always worked, but never seemed certain. CrashPlan is an excellent alternative for a smaller footprint, it …
This was a tape library back in the day. We also couldn't snapshots at the time. I'm sure it's changed since then, but I've been a Unitrends for so long and so happy with it, I haven't had the need to question the backup. Bottom line is, it's reliable.
This was the previous solution we were using, and it seemed to be a constant fight to keep it doing what it was supposed to do. With the [Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery] solution, it pretty much just works. We spend significantly less time keeping it alive.
Worked with Sungard Availability Services a few years back and they were much more flexible with managing archived data.
We selected the Unitrends Data Center [Backup and Recovery] because it integrated well with the Appliance and we can count on Unitrends support should issues …
Basically, this is my first time using a backup product, so I do not have much experience with any others, but I will say that this appliance is very easy to work on and the support is very good as well.

Chose Unitrends
Backup Exec had become extremely bloated and showed its origins in the tape world. While it implemented VM based backups it still felt like it was trying to fit an old product into a new market. Cost was also not on par with Unitrends.
The appliance and the cloud features way outweigh the configuration issues and failures I was always troubleshooting with BE. I save so much time with Unitrends it is unbelievable. With me being a 1 man team this time savings is crucial.
I think the biggest thing is stability and recovering from failed incremental backups. Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery's process is simple and does not require modifying the original job except adding a custom field in the job calendar. A simple drag and drop and …
Most companies have been using tape backups for along time and Unitrends allows to completely move away from tapes.
Once the Unitrends solution is in place, I don't really have to worry about it. I get notifications to my email about every job and that's how this is monitored.
I wanted to switch from a tape backup system to an appliance based system. In my opinion tape backups are old and unreliable. We achieve greater efficiency using two appliances at two different locations. While we did use tape backups originally it was still dependent upon a …
With feature improvements in recent years, Unitrends has become a great bang for your buck back up solution. Veeam is still a leader in the industry but with its feature set and pricing, Unitrends has been a great purchase for our organization. I feel confident in its ability …
We've used BackupExec before, and it was decently suited, but was not nearly as easy to implement. Switching to a purpose-built appliance has made the process of configuring backups and restoring much easier.
Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery is simply better than Backup Exec. It is more flexible and provides services that Veritas does not. We replaced a very old implementation of Backup Exec with Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery and have not looked back.
[Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery] was presented with glowing promises. I was hoping they were true. It cost more than previous solutions to purchase (a lot more) but the ease of use and speed of both backups and recovery is incomparable. The time saved immeasurable. …
Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery was the best solution (in our opinion) to go with in terms of a virtual backup product. PHD virtual worked well as well, but it was bought out by Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery.
Each of these solutions have certain features and functions that make them useful. When compared to the Unitrends product, personnel, support, the complete feature set available and roi it's no comparison. The ease in which Unitrends was setup and started was not only quick …
Unitrends is far easier to configure, use and administer as compared to Veritas. We selected Unitrends based on the live demo that they provided showcasing the ease of use [of] their recovery package. In the past I would have to contract engineers to come in or connect …
Veritas Backup Exec is very comparable to Unitrends and in some areas is easier to use. The license side of Veritas Backup Exec is much more difficult to manage compared to Unitrends. Unitrends seems to be a much smoother solutions to protect virtual environments. Restoring …
We moved away from Unitrends for one reason only. Pricing. Unitrends continued to raise their pricing and renewal fees where we were no longer able to afford it. Veritas Backup Exec provided the functionality needed at the best price point for us.
SBE is much better for onsite backups as Carbonite is Cloud based and if you have no network connection to your server there is no way to get files backed up or back online. This is why we went with SBE to handle our tape backups on a daily bases and keep server backed with a …
