We had already used Unitrends Backup appliances in the past and we were impressed with the feature set, versatility and reliability. Having a product that dose what it says it is going to brings peace of mind to the IT department, as well as C-level, because if something did happen and there was a DR scenario, we know that our data would be safe.

I've either implemented Unitrends at every site I've taken over, or it's already been in place. Although the pricing can add up quickly, the loss if you didn't have it in place would cost you much more in the end.

Product usability was paramount. We needed to be able to get in and around the system easily. Unitrends was/is super intuitive and training was quick. Obviously price was next. We wanted something that worked well at a great value.

A great system with easy to use management portal.

We were looking at the price more then any other factor. Although we did include function and ease of use to the decision process. The Unitrends product was a all in one solution that did not require additional tapes or modules to complete the back ups to disk. Fast easy recovery also help In the decision

I was looking for an appliance vs a virtual machine that would be in my SAN backing up my SAN and Unitrends offered this. Now when we are looking into co-location, Unitrends offers solutions for this keeping with the stand alone appliance that we are used to and fits the company goals

The features included in the Recovery Series was the single most important factor in my decision to purchase. It had cloud storage capability, WAN optimized replication, support for granular recovery with Exchange Server, and deduplication. Additionally, the Recovery Series would integrate with the Unitrends Enterprise Backup virtual appliance for protecting our XenServer environment. These were all the features we wanted and it delivered.

There were other alternatives that could have worked for us, but one of the most important factors was the involved presence of the vendor in our area and the other clients nearby. It's the only backup system that I'm aware of that has nearly a User Group aspect to it. There are regular training/demo/networking meetings hosted by our vendor in our area. So we always feel involved and near to a "support group" when we need it.

We had the opportunity to speak to a few current users on some products we were comparing and then got to see it in action. The cloud replication was a bonus that met a future audit goal and the price was in the upper end of the budget but still fit.

We needed a system that was comprehensive and easy-to-use, while also able to provide DR features required by our auditors. The feature set and price were big factors in the decision, but expandability with regard to licensing was almost as important for us -- lots of servers, not as much data.
