Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Avalara is implemented in every sale. The system applies tax to all our invoices. Exemptions from our customers are applied in Avalara to apply to customer purchases. Avalara files all our returns and makes my job so much easier.

Pros and Cons

Keep up with tax regulations and changes
Filing returns
Correct tax on our invoices

Liability worksheet needs to have previous months adjustments to returns reflected to tie out accurately
No longer tie out to the penny to Avalara liability sheet due to changes made at time of filing that is never reflected in liability worksheet

Return on Investment

I could use an assistant, but could not do my job without Avalara

Usability

Been using for 8 years and very user friendly. Can not say I feel the same about new application coming out. Needs more tabs, colors, shorter pages, and graphs, buttons. Exactly as it has been.

Additional Capabilities

We have tax calculation, returns filed, and exemption certificate management with Avalara.

Alternatives Considered

I have not looked at any other systems.

Likelihood to Recommend

Avalara over all is awesome. I had nexus analysis done, VDAs done, returns filed, taxation on invoices. Over all happy. The liability worksheet needs improvement is my only recommendation. Can not tie out to the penny on our end due to adjustments made to returns that never get to the worksheet. For customers who file in every state like me and 1 person I do not have time to go back to every return to find a discrepancy the following month. I want to print a liability worksheet with every state and find the adjustments.
