Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce

Outback Fibers is a manufacturer, importer, and seller of high quality wool and silk fibers for fiber artists. We are 99% dependent on ecommerce for our company sales. We use BigCommerce as our main interface with our customers. Most of our customers are in the United States, but we do sell and ship our products worldwide. We have almost 500 products variations. BigCommerce (BC) has been a time saver in being able to accurately provide a way for customers to purchase. It also provides very efficient ways to keep all of our products, colors, and inventory up to date.
  • Excellent support documentation. Virtually all setup and implementation for our company was covered in the support documents.
  • Graphics are easy to work with. The technology makes it easy to import photos. Information is available to provide information on the best sizes, etc.
  • Order interface is easy to work with.
  • Templates don't have enough user management options.
  • Quite a few customer suggestions have not been implemented.
  • Emailing an edited order with a refund is not possible.
  • BC is a big step up in presence for our company. Even though it has cost more money than we were spending before, we have a much better presence in the market place.
  • BC is very easy to use. This has streamlined our operations especially when it comes to keeping the site updated.
  • Order management is in one place. This has helped us considerably.
It works well for us. We don't have experience with rapid growth because we are in a very small niche. Growth potential is somewhat limited.
The only way we use these is by using services offered by a partner/vendor.
I have only briefly evaluated them and do not have deep understanding.
I think BigCommerce is well suited to small (1 to 2 people) companies as long as they have the capability to work with graphics and really work through some of the setup and product preparation needed. Otherwise they may need some third-party help. I have found that you can get by without coding experience if you have knowledge of WYSIWYG interfaces.
