Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT

We used Blackbaud RE NXT as our database of record for fundraising, prospect management, and alumni relationship management. The NXT window into RE addresses user interface and training issues we confronted in the Citrix-based view, allowing more users to feel comfortable and competent inputting and accessing important information.
  • Mobile access to info
  • Dynamic lists
  • Excel exports for custom analysis
  • Repeated periods of downtime
  • Lagging far behind FE NXT in traditional reports available through web interface
  • Consistent lack of guidance on integration with other Blackbaud tools
  • Gift Recording
  • Financial reporting
  • Contact info management for prospects
  • Email Marketing
  • Accessibility to information has made us more efficient and informed
It's been helpful to see the donor trends more easily across time. In terms of insights into prospects, I don't feel that we've learned anything, but perhaps we aren't fully utilizing its capabilities?
We had an individual trainer for a set time when we first adopted NXT, and I felt that she was very helpful. The online courses have been of some help, though more information on best practices would make them much more useful.
Advance was much more complex, and suited to a larger institution (which is where I used it). Blackbaud seems more appropriate to a smaller setting; we were already using Raiser's Edge when I got here -- I just made the call to move to NXT to promote use and ease of access.

Do you think Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT's feature set?

Yes

Did Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT again?

Yes

I find RE NXT to be a significant improvement over the RE 7 in terms of facilitating team use of a database -- it is significantly more user-friendly, and that has removed a major bottleneck in our office in terms of list generation, and prospecting, and reporting. Based on my experience, I think our office of 5 is likely the smallest size team that could make effective use of Blackbaud; the lack of central support/guidance puts a heavy burden on the users to brainstorm best practices, proactively keep abreast of developments, work across departments to try to integrate(ish) different Blackbaud tools, and manage consultants brought in to make the pieces work together. I'm glad we have it, but it's a lot of work to get you need out of it.
