Overall Satisfaction with Brainshark

Brainshark was an excellent tool that I used to create ancillary material for my students, namely to provide them a way to go back and "retake" a particular course afterwards. It is being used by only me (that I know of), and it helps students who may need additional review time to look at it outside of class when they're often embarrassed to ask you to go over something again.
  • Easy to use
  • Allows an animated experience without needing any coding
  • Easy for students to access
  • Allow different media to be uploaded and used (e.g. Flash, Movies, etc...).
  • Have a WYSIWIG UI to help create more animated features so you are doing more than just PowerPoint presentations.
  • I haven't had the ability to really run any statistics on the usefulness of Brainshark because I only use it as an adjunct prof.
I had no idea there were this many authoring tools. I usually use Storyline, Articulate and some home-grown Flash programs in my day-to-day job, which all serve a different purpose - richer functionality but more expensive and harder to use. Best comparison is probably Blackboard which I use for class, but which is way harder to use and not as functional.
Probably just because I have access to paid tools now which have a little more functionality. But if I had to go back to free use, I'd go back to Brainshark, for sure.
It's particularly well-suited if you're a really good PowerPoint designer and need quick, easy, and free software.
