Overall Satisfaction with Cisco AnyConnect
Our organization currently uses and deploys Cisco AnyConnect at the majority of our client's locations. The exception to this is new locations where budget is a higher concern. It is mainly utilized by our Data and Security teams for remote access to clients' networks in a consulting capacity.
Pros
- Ease of connecting to a security appliance.
- Straightforward interface, ease of identifying advertised routes.
Cons
- Currently, it is easy to deploy, it will become much more difficult as ASDM is deprecated.
- Ease of user management could be improved.
- It has a positive impact because it reduces the time spent waiting for a remote session into a network.
- It allows mobile users with iPads to access shared drive resources with appropriate licensing.
AnyConnect is the smallest least intrusive option that makes the most sense if a Cisco Security Appliance is already implemented in the network. I much prefer it to FortiClient, but Ubiquiti USGs and SonicWall are good choices as well. We consistently choose AnyConnect when the existing infrastructure supports it, or our clients are a Cisco shop, or if the budget allows.
