Overall Satisfaction with Constant Contact

I have used Constant Contact off and on for a number of years, both for our company and on behalf of our clients. It used to be the de facto option in email marketing, but in recent years I feel it has fallen behind compared to more sophisticated options in the marketplace.
  • Easy to import lists
  • Templates are a great start for beginners
  • List management is easy
  • If you know how to code, it lacks intuitiveness
  • Templates are cookie cutter
  • Lack of additional automation features (or at least, there used to be)
  • Helped get many companies started in email marketing
  • Has made newsletter signups easy
  • Has allowed us to get clients started and then hand off duties to them easily
Overall they can all accomplish the basics just fine. But I feel like Constant Contact is the light version of the more powerful software options out there. That being said, over the last year or so I haven't utilized it as much as I had in the past due to this, so their feature base may be more up to par as of late.
It works great as an entry level option for users wanting to dip their toes into email marketing. But if you want to dig deeper into automation, a/b testing, and more in depth options, it lacks some of the feature sets its peers possess. Not a bad option, but I feel like you can grow out of it instead of grow with it.
