Overall Satisfaction with Deputy
We use Deputy to roster and time record as well as onboarding staff and keeping track of training. We also try to use it for communication with the team but that's a bit clunky at the moment.
- Time recording
- Adding in correct rates of pay
- Reminding of changes to awards
- Newsfeed - is clunky, difficult to search and some things go missing. There is no ability to see deleted posts.
- Tasks should be able to set up with reminders.
- Onboarding is great but there is still a lot to set up in Xero even after it has synced the info
- Training is used to allow to delete an item and re-add it. Now it doesn't. I was using that to set an expiry date for staff to have completed training but now even after they have completed it I still have to set an expiry even if that isn't relevant.
- Schedule often comes up (multiple users have had this) with no employees and suggests adding employees but we have 20+ employees already. Usually restarting the computer will resolve this but it wastes time and is annoying.
- Bulk updates for new award rates could be easier. Maybe put in level and age as options and then we could fill that out with our rates ([realizing] not everyone pays award) to bulk update? Currently, it is a process to work out who is on what tock those, bulk update, and then keep track of who is updated and who isn't.
- Because the staff is putting their times straight in and managers are approving running the pay run for our casuals now takes me less than 10 minutes including exporting to Xero, exporting to the bank, and processing superannuation. This job used to take me a few hours with data entry [is] the biggest time sink.
- Having schedules available online has been great. We can dynamically change them based on need. No more printed sheets on the wall with handwritten amendments! If someone calls in sick it is very easy for any manager to see who is already on and who might be available.
- Flagging unavailability or [being] untrained when you are scheduling is great. It really means you are avoiding a lot of problems that can easily happen when you have a large team and can't remember who has what training or who has what sporting match at what time.
Our accountant uses and recommended deputy. We hadn't heard of it before. Being aligned with the accounting team's products is very beneficial (they can jump in and process pay if needed).
