Overall Satisfaction with DigitalPersona

It is currently being used by 2 departments (Police and City Attorney's Office). The primary objective is to satisify a dual factor authentication requirement for CJIS. However, due to the increasing number of applications requiring individual user ids and passwords (especially in legal and law enforcement environments), DigitalPersona has relieved users from having to remember all of these credentials by securing them in the application. This also relieves the administrator of having to perform "resets" for his/her users.
  • The Altus client interface is intuitive
  • Altus has a seamless integration with Windows Active Directory
  • Ease of use for users when managing passwords/logins
  • Ease of use when establishing network wide login scenarios
  • Improved functionality with Chrome but not yet perfect.
  • Does not work with Firefox browser
  • Works well with all IE browser based apps.
  • Scanner hardware (fingerprint scanners) have about a 3 year lifespan
  • Implementation of DigitalPersona has reduced man hours spent in supporting users for password changes and resets.
  • I believe this security approach is less expensive from an infrastructure and support perspective than proximity cards
Quite simply DigitalPersona was "best in breed." Support staff at Digital Persona are knowledgeable in their product and its application in Active Directory.
Applications are primarily law enforcement oriented: Tiburon, CJIS, Digital Evidence (VeriPic), etc.
Single user workstations are optimal. Multi-user workstations can require a little more support with regards to training and password changes. Applications can vary in their password change schemas which can sometimes present a challenge to the user.
