Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight

DraftSight is an easy transition from AutoCAD which is the main reason I was open to the switch when moving to a new company. It is user-friendly, customizable, and enjoyable to work on. If you’re thinking of getting into 2D CAD software, then this is the one for you.

Pros

  • User friendly
  • Good layout
  • Customizable

Cons

  • Removing lines on top of lines.
Seems to be the same product. All functions transfer well. The layout can be customized to be the same as what you were familiar with when using AutoCAD profiles. If you didn’t see the label then you can likely transfer over with little to no help in the transition to this software.
2D CAD is where you will get the best usage. Engineering, Architectural, or Design Consulting firms would be best suited for this software. You will not benefit if trying to use this for 3D but it is great to manipulate drawings that were converted from a 3D platform into 2D.
