Overall Satisfaction with Dynatrace

We use Dynatrace to monitor our in house developed software. We are currently managing a test and a production instance. We use the test environment to do the first load tests on our software, and Dynatrace shows exactly where we need some improvements.
Our development team has been helped a lot with the detailed feedback, which is coming from Dynatrace, we send them.
  • Performance dashboarding
  • Root cause pinpointing
  • Custom dashboards
  • Custom reporting
The setup and configuration of Dynatrace was a lot easier than New Relic. The ease of downloading the one agent configured for your environment and installing it on your hosts was very easy. The interface gives you a lot of information, and you can deep dive into details to find root causes of your issues.
Their support forum is a good place to find answers for issues you have. It is fed by users, but the Dynatrace employees are very active in this forum. If you have a complex issue, the Dynatrace employees are available via chat and really take the time to help you out.

Do you think Dynatrace delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Dynatrace's feature set?

Yes

Did Dynatrace live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Dynatrace go as expected?

No

Would you buy Dynatrace again?

Yes

Well suited for web applications. With these, you get code insights and performance counters from within the applications. Real user monitoring helps a lot in solving user errors on the website and probably helps us improve application usability

Less appropriate for monitoring old applications developed in C++. This is a black box for Dynatrace, and you can only see some basic counters as CPU, memory, disk, and network.
