Overall Satisfaction with EZ Texting

We were looking for a solution to replace Zipwhip when it was purchased by Twilio and no longer offered and affordable solution to texting customers from our own business number. My only complaint is that we weren't told that texting from OUR NUMBER was more of a courtesy "sprinkle on the donut" than the regular means of use. They assigned us an arbitrary phone number, then we added ours as the default but when using the mobile app the past few months it ignores the default number; when using on a desktop you an easy select which number to text from though. This is something that previously worked and no longer does...when we called to find out why, we were told that using it in that way wasn't really possible because they were still beta testing it or something like that. Once that gets resolved, it'll be a a great tool.
  • easy to use
  • don't have to disclose our personal cell numbers to customers
  • customers can text using our landline number
  • the mobile app functionality
  • cost effective solution
  • ability to text customers without disclosing our cell numbers
It's easy to use from a desktop and does everything it's supposed to; however, the app is lacking in what we consider the key feature (the ability to use our default phone number rather than some randomly generated one).
Everything went well upon initial setup. Somewhere along the way months later, however, we began experiencing issues with the default outgoing phone number not being able to be selected from the app and THEN we were told that the app was basically a bonus feature and not really fully functional.
We actually LOVED Zipwhip and only moved since it was being discontinued when bought out by Twilio, so we began searching for a comparable replacement.

Using EZ Texting

4 - The support (office) staff uses it to text our customers.
  • texting customers from business number
  • quick communication vs email
  • informal communication
  • desktop use where four different people can see activity
  • with some tweaks to the app, it would be easy to use 24/7
It's close to being exactly what we need. What's frustrating is that it seems no one is still working to make the mobile app work properly.

Evaluating EZ Texting and Competitors

Yes - Zipwhip
  • Ease of Use
lost cost solutions for a single feature, we don't need a bunch of features...just the ability to text from our landline number
If it had been disclosed that the mobile app wasn't fully functional and had the potential to actually lose ground and functionality over time after we came aboard

EZ Texting Support

No one seems to be actively working on the things we've reported (and they knew) had stopped working
ProsCons
Quick Initial Response
Poor followup
Problems left unsolved
Not kept informed
Escalation required
Need to explain problems multiple times
no...we're not getting the most basic support we should be so why would we want to pay to get what should already be functional?

Using EZ Texting

ProsCons
Like to use
Technical support not required
Quick to learn
Convenient
Feel confident using
Familiar
Inconsistent
  • texting/responding to customers quickly
  • notifications don't work consistently so we miss some messages
  • the default number doesn't work from mobile devices any longer
Yes - it doesn't work well, although it did in the beginning
