Overall Satisfaction with Figma

Our organization uses Figma, primarily, to create and collaborate on design mockups for various digital experiences. As a design agency, our team interacts with clients from industries like finance to oil, gas, and consumer goods. With Figma's recent updates released at Config (their annual design conference) and the addition of Figma plug-ins, which allow users to customize tasks or enhance workflow efficiency, Figma lends itself as a tool to meet all types of client needs and creations. If our team needs to create connecting designs, high-fidelity screens with micro animations, or a fully clickable prototype - Figma has it all. My favorite aspect of Figma is creating components within a design library. This allows a larger design team to build and work with an extensive component library of buttons, tables, charts, etc., with different statuses within a design project, ensuring consistency within a product experience. If a designer edits a component, the element will update across each instance.
  • Allow to create components of design elements to organize and re-use.
  • Many features to add animations and advanced prototyping of screens.
  • Figma plug ins to check color accessibility or easily incorporate icons.
  • Storage space- our team regularly ran out of space and had to create new files
  • Stickie notes! They have pre-made stickies in FigJam. I wish I could add a Figma stickie to a regular design file instead of creating stickies from a rectangle shape.
  • File page structure and organization. Design teams can work on different pages of the same file.
  • Creating components and component variations.
  • In-file chat feature (very quirky).
  • Wouldn't be able to do our job without it!
Figma offers more sophisticated features compared to other design tools. The collaboration aspect, motion design features, file organization, plug-ins give Figma a competitive advantage. Figma, additionally, now has a dev mode that converts screen designs into code for developers to use. The feature supports collaboration between designers and developers, reduced friction to help teams further integrate seamlessly.

Do you think Figma delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Figma's feature set?

Yes

Did Figma live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Figma go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Figma again?

Yes

As mentioned, Figma is great for creating digital designs, user flow, visual branding. It is also useful to create animations and visual effects. My teams in the past have used Figma for team bonding workshops, designing journey maps, and information architecture chats (although FigJam is better for flow charts). It may be less appropriate for pure graphic design, product management boards, or project planning.
