Overall Satisfaction with GoToWebinar

I think that there's room for improvement when the host is just starting the webinar. It's a little confusing what the difference is between starting the Webinar and when the attendees can begin to see and hear. GoToWebinar always prompts me as host to start the webinar 30 minutes before the webinar is scheduled to begin. But I'm always unclear as to what starting then would do, and so I hold off on starting the webinar until the actual scheduled time. But I think that I'm probably not doing this correctly.
It allows us to host hassle free information sessions with prospective clients. We are located in a busy part of San Francisco, where traffic and parking were becoming issues and obstacles to recruiting prospective clients to attending our in-person orientation sessions to learn more about our services. Now we can offer webinars in addition to our in-person sessions giving prospective clients much more flexibility. Using the webinar format also allows us to schedule lunchtime information sessions so that full time working folks who don't want to spend an evening or weekend learning about our services can learn more about us during their regular work day. Lastly, since our services are geared to people facing sensitive medical issues, webinars make it more accessible to learn about our services completely confidentially.
  • Quality of audio & video
  • Reliability of connection
  • Automated reminders & follow up communications with registrants and attendees
  • Recordings of webinars available for use outside of the platform
  • Eliminate the need to download software, people tend to hate that and have trouble with it.
  • More customization: our agency shares one GoToWebinar account, and I'd like to customize the account name for different webinars to be more reflective of the program that we're using it for.
I haven't formally reviewed these against one another. But I think that GoToWebinar (GTW) is the more robust solution and is the industry standard. I think that more people are familiar with using GTW, and I think that it's better suited for a one to many type meeting like what we need. I think Join.me and Google Hangouts seem more appropriate for a one to one meeting situation. And I think that WebEx is just generally no longer used; perhaps it was too complicated or outdated. I didn't keep up with it, but I do remember using it. My colleagues used to use Adobe Connect and had a lot of trouble with it.
GoToWebinar is well suited for scheduled webinars with larger audiences (more than 5 attendees), but is less suited for impromptu meetings.
