Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Hootsuite was used my organization by the social media team. The goal was to use it for community management, as a content repository, and as a content scheduling platform. It was used to address the business problem of having to publish content to the social media channels natively as opposed to scheduling it in advance.

Alternatives Considered

Khoros Care (Formerly Spredfast + Lithium) and Buffer

I enjoy Khoros and Buffer a lot more. Hootsuite was filled with false promises and Khoros and Buffer are very straightforward in what they can provide. Buffer has few capabilities but you are aware of then when you purchase it. Khoros is very robust especially for enterprise and they are clear about what they can and cannot do for your business.

Likelihood to Recommend

Hootsuite is less appropriate for someone who wants to handle community management off-platform. The display is weak and confusing. If you work in an industry where age is regulated, Hootsuite is not helpful for this as the view into profiles is limited. We also had a lot of issues publishing videos to our social media channels which lead to us doing it natively negating the use of the platform.
