Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our office uses Kofax Power PDF for all scanned documents, reviewing and highlighting documents, and sending and/or uploading documents to defense counsel or the court.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Combining numerous .pdf documents.
Reducing size of documents to email or upload.
Integration with DocuSign for e-signatures.
Highlighting records for review or in anticipation of depositions.

Cons

Highlighter does not work 99% of the time, although the "highlight" area does.

Return on Investment

Mainly time saving.
Ease of use.
Very helpful when working remotely.

There is very little learning curve involved. This is my 3rd version; i.e. 2nd product upgrade so there was not much "new" to learn, but have found the features improved from version 3 to version 4, although we are still having issues with highlighting which still doesn't work more often than not.

Alternatives Considered

Adobe. This is cheaper and more functional.

Support Rating

I had issued with the upgrade, and was very disappointed with the support, as it took several calls to get the product to download after payment, and had to make several calls for activation as a result. I was not satisfied at all with this. Since I have gotten the program installed I have made not further calls for support.

Likelihood to Recommend

Kofax Power PDF has been a life saver for working remotely. Not only does it help with scanning and emailing documents, but the integration with DocuSign has been a life saver especially during the pandemic/shelter in place timeframe as Clients and other attorneys could not come to our office to execute documents. It has also been a timesaver for getting exhibits ready for Court or Depositions with the ability to combine different .pdfs into one .pdf.
