Overall Satisfaction with Linode
We use Linode to host various VPS's for our client's public facing websites. It saves us having to setup our own infrastructure and is used across our whole company. It's provides the reliability we need to be able to concentrate on developing our products. We have also use Linode in the past to host various apps such as 3CX phone system and Unifi cloud controllers.
Pros
- Reliability - this is key for us as any downtime effects our reputation
- Simplicity to scale services - the interface is very quick and effective to use
- Keeps the costs down - hosting our own equivalent infrastructure would cost a lot more
Cons
- Lack of Cloud Firewall - this was missing for quite some time, and although it is available now, it did mean we had to migrate a few of our services away to DigitalOcean at the time
- Allowed us to provide reliable and scalable web hosting to our clients with a good profit margin
Linode offers very similar services at very similar pricing to Digital Ocean, but the support with Linode is much quicker - not that you need the support that often, but it is handy to have.
