No-nonsense screen recording software to get the job done fast!
Overall Satisfaction with Loom
I use Loom both for my business and personally any time I need to record a screen-share. Often, I'll get questions from clients, etc, that would take a long time to write out instructions for, so Loom allows me to quickly and visually show a step-by-step process. It's much more effective than communicating by text alone and it solves problems in one response rather than an email chain.
Pros
- Very quick to access and record via shortcuts.
- Support for Chrome and capturing a browser window.
- Ability to instantly share or download video.
Cons
- Answering technical questions.
- Answering emails when I can't type.
- Creating how-to GIFs for social media.
- Less time spend answering and re-answering questions.
- Ability to record a video instead of writing (saves your fingers from typing).
- Video and screen-sharing help clients solve their problems much more effectively than written instructions.
- Camtasia and screenflow
I tried lots of different screen recording software but ultimately chose Loom because it had the simplest and most user-friendly UI. There are certainly more advanced apps, like screenflow, but my use case is fairly simple—I just want to be able to record video/screen-shares as quickly and simply as possible.
