Overall Satisfaction with Mailchimp

We use Mailchimp for tracking our email newsletter campaigns, sending industry-specific newsletters to our contacts by their segmented vertical. Our newsletters promote our current inventory deals and direct them to our marketplace should they be interested in booking a campaign with us. Mailchimp helps gauge the general interests of our contacts for our deals and lets us see who we may need to retarget for our sales initiatives.
  • Segmenting contacts by industry
  • Curate newsletters for specific contacts
  • Generally, manage email newsletter campaigns
  • More accurate campaign metrics
  • More contact segmentation conditions to filter by
  • Quick tips for addressing email campaign issues with metrics
  • Increase in conversions from our newsletter campaigns
  • Negative inflation of analytics reporting
Mailchimp is a great "starter" software for engaging with marketing audiences and tracking email campaigns. It has a few major issues with analytics reporting that make it harder to go in-depth and try to optimize campaign variables in a meaningful way. It is useful for keeping records of all of our contacts and checking their overall engagement with our content, but in order to make informed decisions about who to retarget, it falls a little short.
We have been able to see the general direction and success of our basic email campaigns using Mailchimp, and it gives us a good jumping-off point. When we have to then optimize and shoot for increasing our conversions, it becomes harder to gauge upticks when the reporting is inflated due to spam filters and firewalls. Aside from this, Mailchimp gives us the initial analytics to see where our efforts are being noticed and acted on.
We have had an increase in conversations, as of lately, while we have been doing A/B testing with our subjects, copy, and content. We have seen our campaign trend in the direction of more positive engagement, and that has led our focus on how to continue to optimize our overall conceptualization.

Do you think Mailchimp delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Mailchimp's feature set?

Yes

Did Mailchimp live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Mailchimp go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Mailchimp again?

Yes

Mailchimp is well suited for basic tracking of email marketing campaigns, with the ability to gauge the general success rate of reaching your audience and see how much engagement they have with your materials. It, unfortunately, does not track metrics too accurately, with most campaigns having inflated metrics due to email firewalls and spam filters engaging with the email, instead of the actual intended contact.
