Overall Satisfaction with Marketo

Our Marketing team uses Marketo for hosting parts of the site, sending our marketing and certain operational emails internally and externally, and lead management. We recently implemented Marketo, and the changes it has brought have been tremendous. The scale at which the system can send and manage leads to a massive sales team is excellent, the detail with which we can provide to sales reps the information that best helps them sell is extraordinary, and the power our team now has to test and analyze results is vastly increased. We're exploring MSI in a pilot, and are excited about the data any way we can get involved with sales outreach to leads.
  • Email sends at scale have gone smoothly and the analytics we get drive improvements across teams.
  • Internal sales alerts help reps respond to leads quickly and drive accountability in responding to leads.
  • Marketo history on a lead gives us detailed changes on a lead and activity on our site and lets us quickly troubleshoot.
  • The way opportunity and account data is handled relative to data on the contact and lead is disappointing - Marketo has trouble reading the opportunity and cannot edit the account, which for a business that doesn't focus as much on individuals is rough.
  • Marketo's landing page editor could use work, the free-form pages don't have support for responsiveness and doesn't translate well to mobile views and experiences across clients
  • Some of the ways Marketo looks at Lead/Account ownership versus other fields is frustrating, as it makes it hard to assign leads in Marketo and requires me to work with complex SFDC assignment rules that require outside teams to change.

We're trying to accurately target prospects who don't enter data well, who respond marginally compared to other industries, and don't know much about technological solutions to their pain points. Marketo helps us target specific segments and pass them to reps who get more information than ever before about their leads and are held accountable for speedy responses. Marketo helps us qualify these leads before a sales member ever sees them, and lets us assign the lead appropriately.
Marketo is uglier but has a much better integration with SalesForce, and has better thinking in terms of a program versus disparate emails and landing pages. I also find that certain basic pulls and individual analytics are hard to find in HubSpot. Marketo also has greater API support and handles purposeful SFDC duplicates better.
If you can juice it and have the expertise, Marketo is the most powerful Marketing Automation tool I've encountered. If your team is willing to understand a tricky system that isn't as intuitive as other systems, it's going to produce incredible results. If you need a place for all your channels to move through and your software to hook into before SalesForce, Marketo is perfect. If you want to test experiences, Marketo can do that at scale quickly and efficiently.
