Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Linux

Using OEL has been always a good choice. Redhat's kernel being the base, it was always easier to convince the clients to use OEL. OEL has been the bread and butter for us. We use it in and out every day at our company in all the Development machines. Also, we recommend the use of Oracle Linux across all the implementations that we do in the Oracle CAGBU Space. Not just that, we recommend the use of Oracle Linux to our customers who use our own CRM Based product. Oracle's unique OCFS2 has always been an add-on benefit to us as it allows you to store application binary files, data files, and databases on devices on shared storage. All nodes in a cluster have concurrent read and write access to the file system. This is much needed for the cluster-based workloads which is very much useful in any of the industries (for us it's Telco).

On a high level,
  1. Oracle Linux is trusted in high-volume, transactional, mission-critical production IT environments.
  2. Oracle’s Linux support is relied upon for applications that require continuous or near-continuous
    availability.
  3. Application performance in general was enhanced as a result of the migration to Oracle Linux from RHEL.
  4. Automation of processes that were previously done manually resulted in significant reductions in staff
    time devoted to these functions.
  • Ease of using
  • Easy to maintenance
  • Network management
  • Ease of maintenance - In return less overhead on the IT Team.
As we majorly deal with Oracle stack, and as all of them are not supported by Ubuntu, we had a good chance to explore the in & out of oracel linux.
Oracle has always been there in our hard times. We had fixed the multipath issue with ease because of the talented support team at Oracle.
