Overall Satisfaction with Outreach
Outreach was initially bought for the Account Development team. As Pluralsight has grown, Outreach has been expanded to other departments and has also grown with the teams as they have changed over the past year. The Business Development team uses Outreach to prospect and hunt for new business, while the ADMs use it to deal with all of our inbound leads. Outreach has been successful in the pre-sales area so the sales teams have also requested the tool and started to use it in some AM and AE roles.
Pros
- Manages multiple contacts well
- APIs integrate with CRM seamlessly
- Messaging through snippets and templates allows the team to share best practices
Cons
- Always changing platform - must stay training to keep up
- The simplicity was a big plus and as the tool grows some complexity is getting introduced (good or bad depending)
- Data insights are somewhat difficult to utilize
I don't generate reports for the most part, however, the data points that Outreach surfaces for weekly metrics are very useful. Another data point that offers great insight is the open rates and delivery rates for each sequence or template. These numbers are ever-present and represent huge insights with minimal effort. Running reports doesn't seem very necessary since the search/filter options are so robust and the main metrics we care about are viewable by a glance.
- Increased response rates
- More contacts that agree to meetings = more opportunities
- Automation of follow-up allows for higher-level strategy
Shelbi Luchini was the CSM I worked with for the first time and she was a massive help. She immediately identified a few features that would help me in my day to day process that I had yet to explore and integrate. The whole team has been great to work with and the community they are developing in The Peak and through User groups in Utah are fantastic.
Honestly, I have not used any other program like Outreach, but I have a somewhat small sample size since this is my first role as BDR. One tool I did use for a while that was too clunky and not customizable enough was an email return service. You would have to email out a cc'd or bcc'd email and then it would come back to your inbox at whatever date chosen. There was no extended follow-up feature and no central portal to monitor my efforts.
