Overall Satisfaction with Procore

We use Procore daily for project management needs. It's used by all of our project administrators and it keeps the submittal process, mics, and job documents organized in one place. The Project Management tools are very user-friendly, which was important to us when selecting a project management software.
  • Submittal process: user-friendly, everything is organized by package. Always know what has been approved and what needs to be followed up on.
  • Drawing sets: the capability of uploading newer versions of drawing sets and overlaying them so you can address what's changed immediately instead of combing through each page.
  • Specification Sections: they're always linked to any form you create that falls into whichever "spec section" which makes looking up questions and verifying product details very easy to do.
  • Project Financials: our biggest hurdles fall into the financials. It's not very user-friendly and seems very repetitive at times
  • Change orders: these fall under the "Project Financials", but we find them very difficult to understand. Should be a simple process, but it's not user-friendly and fairly confusing.
  • Submittals: while I love the workflow, I think there is room for improvement on the functionality. In our business (I know we're not alone) we have dozens of submittals that fall into each spec section and it's irritating to GCs to get dozens of emails for each individual submittal that's being submitted instead of being allowed to submit them all at once under one package, then being able to individually "approve, R&R, AAN, etc." once they were returned. That is how we would submit to GCs (via email) with a whole package prior to using Procore.
We've definitely benefited from the cloud capability, we were constantly upgrading our servers and needing more space. This has allowed us to feel up considerable space on our servers. Also, being a cloud-based system it comes in handy while out of town to be able to answer most questions pertaining to a project without being at my work station. We're hoping to get more of the field guys using the mobile app as we know that would allow even more time saving and consistency through the course of construction.
  • Saved time and increased efficiency: all of our documents being in one place allows us to know where to go without searching around.
  • Saved paper: most documents are shared electronically instead of printed and mailed.
  • User-friendly interface allows for easy training: all of our internal users have access to most of the projects, therefore, we train everyone to use Procore in the event someone is out of the office and can't be accessed anyone can go in and find the answer if needed.
  • Gain visibility into projects
  • Ensure information is accessible and up to date
  • Document job site conditions
  • Track cost impacts from the field
  • Streamline financial reporting
As I've stated, having all of the information pertaining to each job allows us to save time going between different software. While we're not 100% on the Financials we hope as we get better it will give us total insight into our jobs without having to toggle between different programs.
As with any new program, it takes time to fully integrate it into your business. There are learning curves, discontinuing use of old products and establishing best practices across the board which don't establish themselves overnight. We've been using this product for a year and while it's integrated into our daily use, there are still times when "problems" arise or questions are brought up where we find we've been doing something incorrectly.
It has definitely helped with organizing our jobs and not having the need for a lot of server space since everything is saved in the cloud. I believe Procore is well suited for general contractors and subcontractors. We fall into the subcontractor category 8 out of 10 times and we've found it kept jobs running a lot smoother so the ball doesn't get dropped on particular events.
