Overall Satisfaction with Procore

It's mainly being used by our project managers, superintendents, and field staff to share/store information for all of our projects.

Pros

  • Shares drawings across all our devices for use in the office and the field.
  • Captures and stores project-related pictures from the field.
  • Contains project information in one spot that can be accessed by the whole project team.

Cons

  • Procore doesn't seem to integrate well with Sage 300 CRE. There is a lot of issues getting things to sync between the programs. Revenue Recognition would be huge but doesn't give us the ability at the moment.
  • Scheduling integration is poor. As a Subcontractor, I don't need to use the full MS Project product, but Procore doesn't have a simple Gantt chart to use that rolls up into a company-wide schedule so we're forced to use MS Project and pay for licenses.
  • They miss the mark on their "Tasks" tool. It's been brought up many times in their "Request an Idea" forum that companies need the ability to prepopulate tasks that are done on each project, so they don’t have to be entered for each project manually, but there isn’t the functionality to do that. Also, it can't mass-import them either.
  • Really lacking on the accounting end. It almost doesn't make sense to use the ERP Integrations as it only provides up-to-date budget information. I can make my pay apps out of Procore, but they still need to be manually entered in Sage.
  • Data analysis is lacking. It has some dashboard reporting but if you link a decent amount of data, it bogs down hard and eventually doesn’t load. With the lack of accounting information being pulled into the system, there isn’t a good way to get dashboard reporting on financials like some competitors that have the full suite of PM, Accounting software, etc.
  • Very overpriced for a simple project management solution. Could have a cheaper version for subcontractors since we don’t need a lot of the tools.
  • Currently no integration with other companies that use Procore. It can be confusing switching between Procore accounts and requires duplicate entry in each system if the GC and Subcontractor are both on the platform. They did announce at their Groundbreak event that they will be rolling out integrations soon.
  • Software costs have increased with no noticeable change in cost savings yet as we came from another cloud solution that wasn't developing as fast as Procore.
  • Great drawing and photo sharing solution between field and office staff.
  • Decent data capture between field and office.
  • No schedule solution.
  • Need to add other software solutions to integrate with this product to satisfy company needs
Works pretty well from a Project Management solution but cannot integrate well with an accounting solution since it relies on third-party software and ERP for the task. This leads to a clunky experience when you need to add different software on top of this platform to accomplish your needs. You'll need to add an HR solution, scheduling solution, potentially a timekeeping solution (they don't have geo-fencing or photo capture at clock-in yet), data analytics solution, possibly an inventory solution, etc. We selected Procore because it was the first option that we knew of, and other contractors recommended it. We noticed a lot of local general contractors moving to this software and assumed it was the way to go.
  • Gain visibility into projects
  • Ensure information is accessible and up to date
  • Document job site conditions
  • Report on incidents and inspections
  • Identify job site risks
  • Track cost impacts from the field
  • Streamline financial reporting
  • Improve forecast accuracy
If they got Procore accounts to share information between them to reduce data entry, added the ability to get geofencing for the time clock portion, fixed the task tool, and better integrated with HR and Accounting solutions, this would be a very nice product. We're pleased with the drawing, document, and photo collaboration.
The collaboration is pretty good for our in-house staff. The issue we have is that we're a subcontractor. No general contractor is going to log into our system to collaborate with us. There also isn't a full product integration between two companies with Procore accounts (though it's being rolled out in stages). There is still a lot of duplicate data entry. We run a small general contracting company that is a sister company of our subcontractor company. We're required to have two separate accounts ($$$ ouch!) and lack data sharing between them. As I mentioned earlier, the ability to share information between our field team and the office staff is helpful.
Procore is good for general contractors that want to keep all their project files in one location, have them accessible from anywhere on any device, and for tracking project information like punch lists, RFIs, etc. It is not ideal if you need an all-encompassing solution for project management, accounting, etc, so it all works together and provides data analytics.

Integrating Procore

They push you through implementation very quickly and send you on your way. The ERP integrations team needs to be more robust and stay with you through a couple of project cycles. You can teach everyone how to use the product, but until you begin using the product for a couple of projects, you don't retain the information they show you initially.
