Overall Satisfaction with QuickBase

Used by a large team to manage and monitor an equipment refresh project covering 150 remote locations and lasting 14 months.
  • Top-level, graphical summary of overall project status, recent milestones and upcoming activities.
  • Respository for all project-related documents
  • Ability to drill-down into each site's specific characteristics
  • Once the tool has been configured and deployed, using it to quickly see status is a breeze. However, creating a new project feels complex and is time-consuming. There is plenty of power, but sorting through and trimming down the options is not so easy.
For our project, QuickBase has certainly made tracking all aspects of the project much easier vs. having to access multiple different repositories and/or files. Certainly was easy/quick to deploy. Hard to say if building/maintaining the template was as easy.
Quickbase provides more capabilities to track/manage all aspects of a project (documents, issues) beyond just the project plan, and because it is cloud-based, users do not need a seat license- just a browser to view and navigate through the entire project template.
Smartsheet is fine for simple task tracking, but doesn't have the functionality to effectively manage a large, cross-functional project such as the one we use Quickbase for.

Its just not that easy- from my experience, no particular IT or technical knowledge is required, but customizing the templates requires time and is not always intuitively obvious.
  • Improving collaboration across one or more teams
The goal in using Quickbase as to provide one place where all stakeholders, from key project participants to high-level management, could access to obtain what they need for the project: could be just a quick insight into overall project status and timelines; could be a place to collaborate on resolution of issues, was definitely a place to keep all project related documentation so individual sites could be audited (if needed). We are absolutely achieved this outcome.
N/A - not responsible for updating the application.
Cloud-based, so users can easily connect and get status from any device. However, the UI on mobile devices, and the ability to navigate through the various pages is not as easy as from a laptop.
Have only used for Project Mgt to-date- is well-suited to that task, once the project template has been built-out. Easy to add new capabilities.
