Use Cases and Deployment Scope

On my side as a developer, we use this tool in two different ways:

1) Track time for tasks and projects.

2) Track time and expenses for projects to bill the correct amount to each client.

Each person involved in each project should log the time and a few descriptions of the tasks done per day, according to the correct project assigned. Also, if we need to travel or do some expense related to the project/client assigned, it must be logged. This helps the Finance department know how to bill and pay.

Return on Investment

We can track the projects where we invest more time and resources than the scheduled, this helps in project planning and negotiation with clients.
Confident with the employees, they know that what they log will be paid, and that, if any overtime is not approved, it can't be logged. In that case, they are protected from PM. If they can't log the fault is on the PM side, not the developers.
We had some resistance to the change when we requested the employees' log every time that they invest in the projects and provide a short description of the job done each day. In the beginning, they thought that we wanted to know exactly what they do all the time. Once they understand that we needed only a short description and only more details when something relevant happened in the project, the resistance changed to acceptance.

Usability

In general, the usability is great and simple, however, we've had some issues when the employees are out of the office or far from a computer at the end of the week or at the close of the billable period when they need to log the expenses and time by mobile phone; the mobile interface needs to be improved.

Get reports of time billable per client in an easy way, also get payroll by person and client is easy, employees could check their time logged and do a quick approximated payroll total.

When you need to know the time spend for each person on each project, this tool helps to track the time for project and person in a simple way. It also helps to keep the authorization logs when some overtime is requested, the lead and PM must approve it. Also, if some project needs any extra expenditure, it will be tracked and we will get the final report in a friendly and simple way.
