Overall Satisfaction with ScienceLogic

ScienceLogic is our primary monitoring tool for our Network and Collaboration Managed Services. We also use it for our own internal monitoring.
  • Easy to deploy collectors at client sites. Other tools we've seen require a two-way https connection, but ScienceLogic only requires an outbound https connection from the client site, which alleviates a lot of client concerns.
  • Flexible platform to create your own Powerpacks, device classes, dashboards.
  • Multi-tenancy support to allow us to service multiple clients.
  • Lacks Netflow support natively. This is a fairly basic component for managing networks, so it's surprising that it's not available.
  • Custom reporting is way too difficult to do without coding expertise.
  • Lacks network configuration management. This is also another fairly common request for network management. I would like to see ScienceLogic take and manage backup copies of network devices. It would also be great to be able to push out configuration changes in bulk too.
  • We needed an overall solution to replace our old managed services application, and ScienceLogic has done that well. It's much more scalable and has greater capabilities. We would never be able to grow unless we switched to ScienceLogic.
  • Automation, especially with incident creation, has been huge for productivity. Our Level 1 staff used to spend a lot of time manually opening incidents based on the events we received. But now, many of them are automated, which frees them up to triage the incident right away.
  • ScienceLogic will allow us to grow our Managed Services business and start developing Enterprise Monitoring As a Service.
Yes - It was an older product that we actually purchased the IP for and developed on our own for a while called WildMetrix.

It wasn't scalable, and the code was old and had to be updated. It would've been a monumental effort to do so, and we would not have been able to do it quick enough to support the business.
Dashboards have been really helpful. We didn't have that capability with our old solution. We haven't implemented IT Services yet, but are looking to do that this year.
Yes, ScienceLogic is allowing us to scale and take on more Network and Collaboration Managed Services business because it scales well, and the automation allows for our personnel to do more without having to add more personnel.

Plus, we are now looking at starting up Enterprise Monitoring as a Service.
We've integrated ScienceLogic with ServiceNow to automate incident creation, which has been incredibly helpful for our Level 1 Managed Services staff. We are looking to expand upon that and in specific cases, automatically pull additional information into the ServiceNow incident and potentially close out the incident if possible.
Great overall tool to manage multiple systems, but it requires a lot of talent and expertise. And it seems like it requires a fair amount of customization.
