Overall Satisfaction with Slack

We are a company based in Australia and Indonesia. We use Slack as the main communication tool for the Indonesia team. We created many channels to support task management, team management, and even non-working topics such as hobbies. We created some automation to make things faster and more efficient. We were using Skype but Slack offers us a threaded chat, which is good to keep the chat focus. Slack looks more flexible and fun because it has a better reaction, reminders, and bots. Although it might sound less professional for seniors, we have a lot of young guys and we feel happier using this software with all the benefits it has.
  • Threads
  • Reminders
  • Bots
  • Advanced shortcuts
  • Automation
  • Customized reactions
  • The left panel looks too crowded; I think the starred channel should be the first one
  • Ability to send short audio messages without a third-party app; built features should be faster considering that Slack has phone/call feature
  • Search results are sometimes confusing; too much information, perhaps Slack team can improve the UI
  • Moving to Slack from Skype improved our productivity by 30%
As mentioned previously, Skype is good for chatting only, while Slack has more features and flexibility. Skype doesn't have a thread feature and it doesn't have a side-by-side view for the active channel and thread. With the bots and app, Slack has more possibilities to solve business and team problems.

Do you think Slack delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Slack's feature set?

Yes

Did Slack live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Slack go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Slack again?

Yes

If you have many team members who love to work productively in a fun way, Slack is a good chat tool. It allows you to create multiple channels for any purpose. You can create a serious channel and a "chit-chat" channel. It has a reaction for a quick confirmation, it has a thread function for replying to each sentence, and it has a call option like other chat software. If you find things are missing from Slack, you can visit their third-party apps. You can also build your own automation using their bots as well. I really recommend Slack if your team works remotely often.
