ThoughtSpot Review - Canadian Tire
Overall Satisfaction with ThoughtSpot
ThoughtSpot has been revolutionary in day-to-day reporting and analytic needs. We rolled out the tool throughout merch organization first and it allowed for ease of use and access to most granular information. That allows for quicker decision making, as well as needed customization for end-users. While we started with roll out to merch first, we ended up implementing the tool with supply chain, branding, marketing, procurement, etc. All to great success and high adoption rate.
Pros
- Ad hoc searches
- Custom functions such as top 10, vs, quarter to date, etc.
- Ability to combine tabular representation of info and visuals
Cons
- Ease of formula creation
- More custom visuals
- Less ad hoc asks to BI teams
- Consistency in reporting throughout the company
- Ease of data access
We do robust training up front and the key is to engage with the user on a regular basis. Questions come up as the tool allows you to be creative with questions.
I would say, after a day of playing around, users are good to go!

Search results get returned in less than 10 seconds. Accuracy depends on the data you feed the tool. As long as business rules are defined, you are good.
SpotIQ is one of the areas we have not utilized well yet. It works well and points out statistical outliers that may seem obvious to users we have.
It has been helpful in presenting what visuals may look like when doing a deep dive into the business.
