Overall Satisfaction with TIBCO BusinessWorks
TIBCO BusinessWorks is used within the whole organization. It's used to realize applications for big companies such as banks, telephone companies, supermarket chains and so on. Typically, we establish business logics and expose services which are then used by third party software, we take care of legacy environments migration and new functionalities implementation. It improves timings, simplifies maneuverability and scalability.
- TIBCO does well on data manipulation and on heterogeneous systems integration. We were able to perform messaging between several different systems, without developing custom APIs. With TIBCO BusinessWorks it's easier transform and analyze data, including managing of error cases.
- It would be great to have dedicated regex functions, such as search and replace, match and so on. For data or strings manipulation it's strongly recommended.
- It highly improved development speed, maintainability and scalability, reducing costs on resources and allowing my company to focus on more projects at one time.
In tasks such as database connections, queries and data transforming, TIBCO's visual creation surely outranks most other same-type software. Anyways, there are scenarios where it would be easier to face the code itself rather than drag-dropping activities or variables on input/output maps. I mainly refer to cases such as recursive functions or deep logics on data structures.
Outstanding. You can easily manage data passed through endpoints, even considering dynamic cases such as processes which can receive completely different input but still acts with no problem. Of course this is all up to developer experience and skills, but you can actually manipulate data as much as you wish.
Local testing is not a big problem. Mainly, difficulties are caused by environmental conditions, but there are cases in which TIBCO testers encounter technical obstacles. For example, huge data moles can easily fill virtual machine memory, making it hard to test. These problems do not occur on deployed application, but this is obvious because BusinessWorks testers include visual workflow simulations and other stuff, stressing machines more than normal.
TIBCO MDM helped us on master data managing, making it easier to manage tons of data flows with rules at a database level, instead of having a back-end applications to stick with triggers, procedures and so on. BusinessWorks it's great to evaluate and manipulate data between systems, but after those have been canalized into it and sent somewhere in the database, MDM takes the crown. Each of these software work perfectly on a particular task, which is why we selected them for our projects.
