Overall Satisfaction with Cision Communications Cloud

I previously used Cision Communications Cloud (TrendKite)* for one of my clients at our agency. We used it to track and measure earned media mentions, along with analyzing where a lot of our coverage was coming from. From there, we would use that info to seek out new opportunities and conduct competitive analyses as to how we were stacking up against other products/companies in the space.

  • Easy and attractive reporting capabilities.
  • Intuitive platform, very user-friendly.
  • Ability to measure results (like share of voice) that you couldn't do manually.
  • Hard to get your boolean/search query accurate.
  • Slow customer support from the technical side (not from the Sales side).
While other companies like LexisNexis have cool and similar monitoring capabilities, we chose Cision Communications Cloud because we were already familiar with and active in the platform and the annual cost was significantly lower.
Great for if you have a client that is heavily focused on PR and needs a good system of measurement. If you're doing a lot with social, influencers or digital ads, there are other systems of measurement that would be better suited.

Transition from TrendKite to Cision Communications Cloud

For our team, the transition was pretty seamless. We didn't experience a major challenge in user experience since we were already familiar with both Cision and TrendKite individually. Our contacts at both TrendKite and Cision were also both helpful and responsive, making sure to answer any question that popped up. While it was a year+ ago that we transitioned, I don't remember there being any hassle or issues.
  • Distribution (PR Newswire)
We've used many different components of the Cision Communications Cloud as a team before, but currently we're only using distribution via PRNewswire for our clients on an as-needed basis (maybe 3-5 times/year.) At the moment we don't have any clients that we completely manage their PR strategy for, or else we would likely also be using the monitoring and analytics tools as well.
I agree like the Cision Communications Cloud has pretty much everything a PR pro would need to effectively manage a campaign soup to nuts. Every tool that I've used within the Cloud has always been very intuitive and user-friendly, and it's generally something that is easy enough to understand and use if you have to onboard a new team member. My only "complaint" would be that the Cision database containing reporter/journalist contact info can be outdated at times.
For Cision TrendKite in particilar, support always responded, but it was sometimes slow. For some of our booleans and search queries, we would need help refining and excluding terms/phrases that weren't relevant to our client or campaign. This sometimes took 1-2 days just to get a response back, which sometimes was too late when a last-minute report was due. This was only with the support staff, not necessarily our customer success manager or sales rep.
