Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery
I currently manage several implementations of Unitrends products for several companies. In all instances, the devices are being used to back up critical company data. We use it to restore data that may have been accidentally erased or deleted as well as part of the disaster recovery plan. All the data backed up to the on premise device is then synchronized to the Forever Cloud.
I use Unitrends products because they have proven to work flawlessly in every situation where data was lost and needed to be restored. The speed in which data is restore is extremely fast and the GUI is easy to use. The ease of use is also a main reason why I recommend these products. I can show someone how to restore data from a backup with minutes.

- Having to filter through a range of backups to simply see that latest backups.
- We have saved a significant amount of money not having to buy backup tapes regularly.
- We can devote resources that are usually tied up with data protection to other facets of IT, therefore, increasing productivity.
- We have less downtime because of the speedy recovery of data. Users do not have to wait long periods of time to get access to the lost of corrupted data.

Most companies have been using tape backups for along time and Unitrends allows to completely move away from tapes.
Once the Unitrends solution is in place, I don't really have to worry about it. I get notifications to my email about every job and that's how this is monitored.
I've also used HP Vault robotic tape changers, however they jammed, or the bar code reader would fail and the backups would fail. Unitrends uses hard drives to store the local backup and then sends the backup to the cloud which eliminates the need for expensive devices and tapes. Tape backups also take a much longer time to complete a full backup.
Smaller companies use single tape backup devices that need to be manually changed every day and require human intervention. This becomes tedious and at times a backup is not created because the tapes were not changed.
