Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365
We use Veeam Backup for M365 to make sure we have our OneDrive folders backed up and also critical information that is stored in our Team sites sharepoint with reliable backup and easy recovery. Also to make sure public folders are backed up, which other backup platforms didn't offer us when we started using Veeam.
- Backup teams data
- Provides easy cloud backup as default
- Has great support articles when you get stuck
- Backup public folders isn't too intuitive
- Doesn't provide great backup feedback for when there is an error in the backup
- Doesn't give an option to backup to local NAS if that is needed
- Reduced time troubleshooting backups from our old software
- Increased cost (but our previous software was free)
The most important aspect was that all the components of Office 365 were covered. We found that there were hole in our backup solution which weren't covered by the free software that we were using. As we were currently using Veeam B&R, this software was a logical addition.
One of our users had emails that went missing. When we looked into the audit logs, it appeared to be getting deleted by the user. We were able to quickly go in and restore the emails that were missing.
Restore has never really been an issue for us, but restoring directly to Office 365 has been our most used configuration.
I like that the configuration helps configure the credentials to be used for connecting in to office365.
It just has more features, can back up different types of inventory and has a far more useful and reliable UI.
