Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365
We primarily use Veeam Backup to backup our M365 profiles and accounts along with associated documents and email. We backup daily and export to multiple places for redundancy.
- EMAIL backup automation
- Exporting of the backup file itself to on prem. Cloud to Ground backups
- Exporting of company proprietary software and code
- Disaster recovery process - can take long
- customization would be appreciated - currently there not a lot of options available but ease of use is positive there
- setup can be hard - but once set it is good.
- positive impact - cost is reasonable
- Ease of use, cost to maintain and upkeep is also a postive
- Recovery options are good and we are able to use without alot of employee time and intervention
We were updating our company policies and procedures - and defined the need to backup O365. The cost, efficiency and our past experience with Veeam also led us to commit and continue use of the tool.
I like Veeam just because it works. That’s it; set it up right and you’ll start getting backups. Have an issue, call their support. Never had an issue with their support and they got back to me. Call their support and eventually, without fail, say I should just rebuild the appliance cause they don’t know what’s going on. With Veeam, same setup… it just works. Took me a day to switch and that was with a bit over 100 VM’s/host.
We have restored a PST for a particular employee who is no longer with us - and needed to be able to review the mailbox for legal and compliance reasons. We were able to restore a box to over a year ago and we were able to provide email contacts and messages for the audit that was being performed. It works.
ease of use by far my favorite feature of Veeam. Stupid simple. They have the installation/update/upgrade processes down to a button push. Also, the available updates for Veeam seem to be pumped out every few months
As I stated earlier, Veeam is a great solution that just works and isn’t super expensive like with Rubrik, Cohesity etc. however it is bring your own storage. Whether that’s disk or cloud. However as a result it doesn’t have quite as many add one and features as those other products. But it does backup great.
