Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

We use Veeam Backup and Replication for the obvious reason of backups. We have a lot of self-hosted virtual machines on an ESXI hypervisor that need to be backed up. Veeam does this job perfectly, and it has never been easier to do a file level restore for the end user or have the ability to restore an entire VM at a glance. The migration feature is extremely handy and made it very easy for us to migrate VMs from an old and outdated ESXI host to a new host. This process is not supported by VMware; a VM migration with Veam Backup and Replication made it extremely easy for us.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • NAS filers
  • In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
  • In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • Capacity Tier to store data within object storage for longer term retention
  • Utilizing backup copies for secondary purposes via DataLabs
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • Backup of VMs.
  • Replication of VMs.
  • FIle Base Restore.
  • Migration of VMs.
  • There is nothing I do miss in Veeam.
  • There might be room for improvement of self-hosted appliances.
  • More support for hybrid environments.

Do you think Veeam Data Platform delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Veeam Data Platform's feature set?

Yes

Did Veeam Data Platform live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Veeam Data Platform go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

Yes

There is one host and one storage continuously backed up by Veeam. This is what we expected, but Veeam has room for more. We could easily add more hosts and storage locations.
  • Save Backups.
  • Easy Restore Options.
  • Less Time for migration of VMs.
The triggering action for our business to change our backup solution to Veeam Backup and Replication was the need for a secure and stable Backup Plan. Before Veeam, Data was not saved regularly, and restoring Data was not possible. Also, the possibility of a Ransomware attack was a reason for us to be prepared and back up all our data. Our experience with Veeam is much better than without it.
Veeam has made it extremely easy for us to back up to cloud-native storage. This is much more cost-effective than a local solution and has some technical advantages. The scalability of a cloud solution is also something we will not miss in the future. The issue of disaster recovery is very important. In the event of a ransomware attack, we can instantly replicate our entire production.
By using NAS file shares in our environment, Veeam Backup and Replication have made it very easy to back up the data stored in these locations. We have benefited from this feature because there is an instant recovery option that makes it easy for our IT team to recover files that a user has accidentally deleted or destroyed.
Backing up to multiple storage points has never been easier than with Veeam. I would always recommend using Veeam for your backup strategy. Also, migrating VMs from older hosts is very easy with Veeam. Veeam would be less suitable for backing up user desktops. There might be other solutions for that.
