Workfront is a great tool but continues to increase in price.
Overall Satisfaction with Workfront
Workfront is being used across our multinational company and is a great tool for us. We use it to track many things about a project from the overall status to cash flow expectations. Other aspects include budget management, resource allocation, time keeping, and historic data collection. It is a great one stop shop for retaining information in multiple areas of multiple projects.
- Centralize projects in one solution
Pros
- Time keeping. It allows for easy time entry and comments on specific tasks or general hours.
- Budget vs. Actual analysis. Being able to plan a project and then see how it is actually executed is built into Workfront.
- Cash flow expectations. The Expenses input as well as the Billing Records tab really help forecast the current cash flow.
Cons
- The app, when used from your phone, iPad, or tablet is horrible.
- Workfront maintenance is usually not a problem in the USA as it is done after hours, but can get in the way when working from China or other areas in the world that are on a different time zone.
- Resource allocation tracking is not as user-friendly as other competing platforms.
- Positive: It helped by providing a place to track finance paperwork along side project paperwork.
- Negative: It continues to increase in price.
- Positive: It eliminates the need for other time tracking services.
I have not looked too deep into others however other employees in the company are as the price continues to increase. We know others have stronger resource allocation tracking aspects, which are important to us, but that benefit may come at the expense of other areas being less effective for us.
I have not personally used the feature however I think others in the company say the response time is reasonable and they usually do a good job of helping with a concern. Sometimes we will ask for an improvement and then it is incorporated into the upgrades, which is great... except that then they charge more the next renewal.
