It's best used in customer service, esp for those encountering similar interactions from time to time. Also, you can totally use it to seek opinions from relevant users on a matter regarding your business, the tool is perfect for engaging and crowd-sourcing.

Hootsuite Enterprise

Hootsuite is great if you want to monitor one or more accounts. Specifically, if you are trying to build out a social calendar. Hootsuite makes it easy to develop a thorough content calendar while also promoting/posting things in real-time. If you want to boost interaction with consumers/followers, Hootsuite makes it easy to see mentions and interaction and then tweet back to other users.If you are unsure of your social goals, I would say Hootsuite might not be for you, as it pertains to more advanced levels of social media marketing.

Pros

  • The smart clustering works wonder and will help you loads in managing a huge number of mentions everyday or reaching out to people who might be interested in your product. The tool cleverly groups similar tweets together even though they don't match word by word. It saves me time everyday responding to tweets with similar content. The nice thing about it is you can customize your responses so you don't sound like a machine, thus the personal touch is still there.
  • 12mass is the only tool that allows you to measure your responses against stipulated metrics like engagement rate, click-through rate and so on, so you know which responses are best welcome by the audience
  • The system gets smarter as you use it, which speeds up the conversations even further.
  • Easy to interact with other users or consumers--fast. Hootsuite allows a real-time feed like Twitter used to have. Notifications are more easily seen.
  • Easy to monitor all aspects of social, including through multiple accounts. Did someone mention your account(s)? There's a panel for that. Only want to see specific content? You're able to create data profiles on whatever you choose. What to minter multiple accounts at once? Done.
  • Scheduling tweets are easy, which means you can fully develop your social calendar and not have to worry about taking a break from your dinner to send out that 6 pm tweet.

Cons

  • The system is rather bulky and can be complicated for new users to get familiarized with at first. There are a lot of tools to refine your search, which takes a while to understand the logic.
  • It can be a bit slow at times and you'll need to refresh the system and type the search again.
  • Would love to see the statistics being present in a more comprehensive way with a dialog decision tree drawn out.
  • When scheduling tweets, it can be easy to hit the wrong button and send the tweet out immediately. Would love to see better design to avoid that.
  • With so much data on the screen, sometimes it can look overwhelming and, maybe this is just me, quite ugly. Personal preference, sure, but I would love to see a cleaner looking design.

HootSuite has one of the fastest response support teams in the business. Additionally, they provide support in lots of different ways. In addition, to tradional phone and email support, the HootSuite support team can be easily reached on platforms like Twitter or Facebook

Would rate it a 10. We received two hours of online training and it was of very high-quality. HootSuite also offers HootSuite University which is an extremely comprehensive training portal with self-paced quizzes, training webinars and videos, best-practice papers, product certification, and access to a network of external experts. This is a fantastic resource.

Alternatives Considered

Hootsuite is great in managing multiple platforms but it's not exactly a conversation tool. I would say Hootsuite for management, 12mass for engagement.
• We had tried Sprout Social, primarily for posting and monitoring. Sprout had a great UI – perhaps a bit more modern than the HootSuite UI: It’s very intuitive and easy-to-use, but it didn’t have filtering. It presented one big stream. HootSuite allows filtering so that data can be categorized and presented in different columns. Sprout Social did had a great Twitter lookup tool which provided an easy way for me to pull up all my Twitter conversations with someone. This is the greatest tool ever. HootSuite doesn't have it. Also, Sprout Social does not have the same adoption as HootSuite, and that wide adoption made us feel more secure. For us HootSuite Enterprise was better choice.
• We also use Radian6 for listening and analytics

Return on Investment

  • Better customer service. One example I like to use is that there was a miscommunication, and the customer put it up on Twitter (presumably because he thought an email wouldn't be helpful, or he wanted to get a few laughs). 12mass filtered his post out and brought it to our attention, so we were able to email him straightaway and quickly remedy it.
  • Better ROI. We have seen direct conversions from click throughs on responses generated by 12mass sent out at optimised times.
  • Maybe on a smaller note, its a morale booster. To know that we are using something that is still new, that works so well. Motivates the team to work harder because we are part of a change; a new way of marketing.
  • Productivity. Scheduling is great. I particularly like the Hootlet button installed in browser. When searching on the Internet, and I want to promote brand / industry content, I click on the button and HootSuite automatically shortens the URL, pulls in the title, etc. This simple thing is a huge time saver. I don’t have to do any cutting and pasting.
  • Also the auto-scheduler is a very cool feature. It’s a set and forget thing which allows HootSuite to decide on the best time to push out a tweet. Looking at re-tweets that catch fire, I can say that this works extremely well. Whatever algorithm they have is very effective. Anything auto-scheduled does better than content that is not auto-scheduled. This is kind of amazing. It also allows you to tweak the time (for example, we may not want posts to go out to close to each other).
