ApplicantPro

ApplicantPro is excellent for small and mid-sized companies that need an easy and cost-efficient way of getting their jobs posted and getting lots of applicants. It does interface with some HRIS platforms, but for most cases it may not interface with all HRIS platforms.

Dice Open Web

Dice Open Web helped us a lot on finding candidates on niche technology like Baan ERP. We have scarcity of resources on this technology. So it would have been tougher to find it otherwise. Dice Open Web does this pretty well by searching over the web for candidates who will meet the requirements and presenting us with rich profile of the user to take informed decisions on the candidates.

Pros

  • Applicant Pro has been great for our company. The ability to push the job to several free job boards (including several local options), as well as paid services, makes Applicant Pro a great bang-for-the-buck applicant tracking system (ATS).
  • The system is user friendly, which makes it easy for hiring managers to go in and go through resumes hassle free.
  • For our recruiting team, Applicant Pro provides plenty of tools tell help us be successful, such as messaging (including a built-in texting system), facilitating background checks, and other great features.

  • Predictive Analysis is one key feature which helps us know if the candidate is likely to change the Job. This makes it little bit easier to short-list candidates for our position and throughput is higher, with little time, money and effort wastage on candidates who is not looking for Job Change.
  • Almost all of the technology experts right from niche technology like mainframe, baan erp, etc.. to the latest technology like Big Data, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing etc can be found on their platform. And they have strong database of people which helps us choose amongst the candidates which would be best fit for our requirements
  • There are various modes in which we can connect to the candidate, the most widely used formal medium i.e. phone or email to direct connection to their social media site like twitter, facebook etc.

Cons

  • There are not a lot of negatives. Great ATS solution with great customer support.
  • They do have a job email notification feature for potential candidates but it only sends it out periodically. It would be nice to have more control of when the emails go out.
  • The design is improving but takes some getting used to.

  • Sometimes we are bit skeptical on the authenticity of the data pulled down by the Portal. Lot of fake profiles are nowadays created by the people to attract attention. So difficult to gauge this.
  • At times, we do not get the contact numbers of the candidate if they have not posted it on public platform. It becomes then difficult to reach to them, as they do not respond to the direct messages either.

Alternatives Considered

We are just implementing UltiPro. It has an ATS module and does a lot of things equally well and some better. Applicant Pro is probably half the cost. Also, UltiPro requires an account with eQuest to post to state job boards and local job boards, this is an added cost. It is also an added cost with AP but is very affordable. I didn't use onboarding with applicant pro because I believe it was an integration with another vendor. UltiPro is attractive because it is all one system so the applicant information flows into onboarding which flows into employee management and payroll.

Dice Open Web Social Media connect using Big Data technology makes it worth while using the application. Dice in itself has a huge database of candidates with updated resume which is good enough for us to find the right candidates matching our profile. With Dice the Candidates also get alerts on Job, so they can reach out to us in case they find our requirement suitable.

Return on Investment

  • We went from receiving about 10 applicants per job posting to 50-100 (depending on the job). That might sound scary but AP makes it easy to manage and select candidates for interviewing. We have a better applicant pool and better hires as a result.
  • They have a feature that posts our jobs to local universities and the state job board (which is required in our industry). This feature is huge for us and not everyone offers it.
  • Bringing in a hiring committee and involving the manager has had a very positive impact on hiring and workforce management over the last several years.

  • Dice Open Web has cut down on the costs of hiring a consultancy to find us the right candidates. So it helps reduce the costs of finding the right candidate and also finding the information about the candidates. It saves big time on both of these activities.
  • Such Sentiment and predictive analysis application will be the technology of the future. Loads of data are available over the internet. How to make it meaning full and make it to the best of use, something which Dice Open Web has shown to the world.
  • With Dice Open Web, we can fill the open positions faster and we have alternative candidates available in case the first candidates fails to Join the Organization.
