Likelihood to Recommend It works very nicely for our company site because it can easily and seamlessly embed into the site and email HTML pages. It also has picture in picture, sharing, closed captioning (CC) as basic functions. It will also show the time of the video. Because these are short-term-use videos or might get updated frequently and also are just targeting a specific audience, being able to hide or not able to show the number of views or date published (unlike YouTube) actually helps us.

WordPress integration was clean and simple. Shared links were a lifesaver, no need anymore for having to build a landing page. Saved hours in our workflow.
Read full review Pros Ability to easily output a JSON response for requested video data. This makes it easy to work with Brightcove as partner. The read APIs are very flexible and can the output can be easily customized using cgi args. This provides great customization of the output and sorting and filtering mechanisms to find the videos you're looking for. The ability to add captions to videos is good, especially with the regulations requiring video captioning. DFXP support works great as long as the player is given the exact XML format it is looking for. Read full review The dynamic watermark is excellent in case people are that dedicated to stealing content, the watermark protects videos from being recorded by embedding the name or ID associated with the account viewing/recording the video to know who's releasing the content into the public. Total video and player branding - it's not account-wide, but collection or even video specific (as far as I could tell) - so it's easy to clients with their own collection without having to create a new account everytime In general, the features for the price is great. Gumlet provides far more functions than the big name video hosts. Read full review Cons The code for customizing the video player can be made easier, I think it still uses BEML code. Easily accessible ready made code will help users like me to implement a cool looking player. I would love to implement Brightcove video cloud on most of the projects that I work on and I see we could use it in so many different ways but pricing is not easily available on the website. Again if I could work with someone to price for small, medium and large businesses that would be great. Read full review The Gumlet admin interface comes with all the necessary controls, yet UX (also mobile X) could get improved. Settings are not always found where one would expect them, also data management with tagging and search still needs refinement. Working with thousands of files in numerous categories could get challenging. The team, however, is aware of these shortcomings and is working on improvements. We would greatly profit from files which remain linked to their source, once they got uploaded to the Gumlet platform. If his was the case, one could replace background music, refine text or improve colour grading without manual re-uploads and having to re-attach videos to pages. Gumlet supports already watermarks, but it would also be handy to have simple option to set text / overlay graphics just for the thumbnail. The amount of time it would require to relocate all this information outweighs any negative aspect I personally have with the experience. They have been pretty good to work with and from speaking with my Brightcove rep, I know some of the issues I have listed are currently being addressed and tested for future releases.

Read full review Probably unfair to take a point off for this. It took a little while to navigate all of the options. This is a more complex platform than I was used to. And I am fairly new overall to CDN video hosting platforms. It took the first day to get comfortable with what we could do and how to manage it. But, it now all makes perfect sense and I prefer this layout.
Read full review Support Rating We are notified often of downtime, and I have not heard from a support rep for over a year. It really makes it hard to learn what new things are coming out and how we can take our video to the next level when there is no contact from the team on a regular cadence.
Read full review This is probably the biggest factor for Gumlet. Their support team is fantastic and always professional. Most support inquiries through their chat get answered in minutes.
Read full review Alternatives Considered Marketing department favors it because EVERYONE uses YouTube. Overall, YouTube offers decent features and functionality. But Brightcove offers the ability to brand and style players, and control what our users see (and so much more) and YouTube does not. For instance, on YouTube, users are presented with other videos (which could contain competitor videos).
Read full review When you log into Gumlet the difference becomes apparent immediately. The sleek and data friendly dashboard puts all the important details right in front of your face. The upload and transcode speeds of Gumlet is also steps above VadooTV. Gumlet has top notch support and customer service where VadooTV is difficult to contact and has a slow response time if any response is received at all
