    In my opinion, Datto Autotask is exceptionally complicated to set up, manage, and use on a daily basis. I would think the target market for this product would be someone managing a team of 20 - 50 people, possibly more. In my experience, for it to run properly you will need to dedicate at least half an FTE to running this product in an organization of that size per month. I would not recommend it for companies with less than 10 people or for companies that value quick communication with their clients. I would not recommend it for companies using Datto's RMM product. The integration exists, but it is clearly a bolt-on. They were not developed together and they are slow to talk to each other. Frequently you cannot add details from RMM sessions into the PSA without manually copying the ticket number, and if the ticket is more than a week old, then you can't even find it with the ticket number.

    Jamf Pro is the premium swiss army knife of Mac platform management tools. In our case, we have found no need for additional tools and can generally solve all our management and support needs with the built-in functions. We have to support a fairly large global workforce and be prepared for small and large acquisitions and divestitures at any time. With that in mind, a full-featured best in class product like Jamf Pro sets us up for continued success no matter what our existing business or future businesses demand of us.

    • The graphical calculations on time spent on requests, how long they were open for, who worked on a ticket last.
    • Grouping by priority so you can determine easier what needs to be addressed sooner rather then later. This also helps if Account Management has conversations a technician is not aware of so they can prioritize efficiently.
    • The email updates that are sent out to the technicians so they are aware of upcoming or stale tickets.

    • Manages Apps - gives details so that knowing what is available is easy, as well as what has fallen out of the app store.
    • Managing iPads - naming them, adding users, as well as what teachers have which iPads.
    • Sending web clips - allowing shortcuts to be added by management at [the] request of teachers so that students quickly have access to websites.
    • Finding Lost iPads - this feature is invaluable to us as we have students who travel with their iPads and are often forgetful and leave their iPads in their previous rooms or even at school over the weekend. The detail given is extremely helpful in recovering iPads.

    • The GUI is a little dated.
    • Some integrations are limited for not being a Datto product.
    • While not as complex to set up as Connectwise, it definitely requires some serious thought during the initial setup.
    • Email processing could offer more options for parsing keywords and allow for more automation.
    • The mobile app is just not worth using in my experience.

    • As a new user it is hard to remember where certain features are in the over all system set up page. A search feature would be really helpful.
    • Don't just give an enable Remote Desktop command. build in a Remote Desktop session to allow Helpdesk techs to use instead of needing to launch a 3rd party app.

        We stepped away and are looking at different products that integrate with our entire fleet MDM solution rather than focusing specifically on Apple products. An all in one solution fits our needs better and is more cost-effective in the long run. Jamf Pro needs to improve some features and support but overall its a good product.

        Jamf Pro has done pretty much anything we've needed with little setup headache. If we hit a wall, the Jamf user community and tech support departments both are more than willing to help solve problems. Tech support is excellent, but the surprising thing is the user base is by far the biggest resource. Jamf users love to help each other, by directly chatting about issues, posting best practices, or just posting info on the forums.

        The training session was beneficial because it expanded my knowledge about Jamf products and really learn what I am capable of doing with Jamf Pro in terms of managing Apple computers and devices. Immediately after the training course, I was able to implement what I learn to our cloud instance.

        The portion of Autotask that we've used other companies for prior to using Autotask is the Endpoint Management. The Autotask Endpoint Management (AEM) portal integrates perfectly with their PSA/CRM tools. It's alerting features are much better than the above software as there aren't a bunch of superfluous and unneeded alerts. Instead, it only alerts for things that you specify that you want. Alerts aside, for the PSA/CRM, I don't have much to compare it to as Autotask was the first PSA we tried. It's hard to imagine a PSA having more features or doing a better job than Autotask.

        • Jamf has allowed us to create unique deployment strategies for our fleet and better position ourselves internally for the latest and greatest tech. We have full 0 Day support as well as resources which give us heads up when it comes to future features or issues other companies are experiencing. This insider knowledge alone makes it all worthwhile since at times you might be the only Mac admin at an Org.
