OpManager teams' technical support was excellent. They helped us throughout the implementation - from the initial discovery phase. It is also very easy to use. Our Infrastructure team was able to use it with minimal training.

OpManager offers a set of advantages that allow it to adapt to the needs of the company, guaranteeing effective monitoring of the application networks used in our organization. It has an intuitive and easy-to-use interface. The initial setup went smoothly and in a decent amount of time.
Adding devices to existing groups and applying a group-wide parameter.
Email alerts can be a bit challenging depending on how email is managed within a company, sometimes adding ManageEngine OpManager to the allowed relay list for Exchange is necessary to receive any alerts
One of the biggest drawbacks to SCOM is the sheer scope and complexity of the system. This can be a pro and a con. The system is very customizable, what you put into it is what you'll get out of it. That said, the learning curve is fairly steep. An organization needs to be committed to putting time and resources into SCOM to get the most out of it. I've heard stories from colleagues of several different companies that invested in SCOM and then abandoned it due to the excessive time and care required.
SCOM is expensive. Not only is the enterprise licensing costly, SCOM requires it's own servers, operational and warehouse databases to be maintained.
The OOB SCOM reports are a bit clunky and feel outdated.
We are extremely pleased with the network discovery feature of ManageEngine OpManager. It greatly streamlines the process of discovering our network. Additionally, the bandwidth utilization feature is crucial. The detailed bandwidth and traffic reports aid in monitoring traffic at various levels.
At first, we were not able to add our Avaya switches to the configuration backup module, our partner tried to help, but they did not find the solution, we had one remote session with tech support of ME and they solve the problem.
ManageEngine OPManager has already made its place in the market as compared to other tools available due to following reasons - 1. Monitoring capabilities for almost every infrastructure types such as Network, Servers, Virtualization etc 2. Medium Licensing Cost and not that aggressively increasing every year. 3. Good Support and steady pace of growth and marketing.
We used Altiris and WSUS and in the beginning Altiris had the better admin interface than SCOM, but it is no longer the case as SCOM has refined their admin interface. Altiris still has better and more robust group assignments for management roles and those two other tools can better manage non Windows OS devices than SCOM but for a large enterprise Windows shop, if you can afford it, SCOM is the way to go.
