Dynatrace has helped us leverage application insights that were previously unavailable, and also previously thought to be unattainable. Through its rich interface and intelligence, we've been able to unlock business insights and application potential times ten. We've also been able to increase our deployment confidence by ten fold. Triage post install has also been expedited thanks to this tool.
  • Real User Monitoring
  • Dependency Management
  • Kubernetes support
  • API limits
Dynatrace is well suited for visibility by environment for production and release confidence. It's well suited also for war room triage and deep diving for issue remediation. It has deep application monitoring and multi-level capabilities, so it's great to see how deep the app reaches. It's not well suited for simple single-layer/page apps.

Dynatrace is used by the entire organization to manage testing, development, and production.
  • Ease of use
  • Powerful data
  • UI layout is clumsy
  • Need to filter faster
Dynatrace is well suited for analyzing performance test results. It needs a better interface for non-technical business users.

Dynatrace helps us identify performance issues, and do performance reporting and stored process monitoring. It is used by Quality Engineering and Operations.
  • Performance bottleneck identification
  • Root-cause analysis
  • Mobile device monitoring
  • Kubernetes monitoring
Dynatrace is best suited for production monitoring. It's less suited for Dev environment, end-user monitoring, and mobile device monitoring.

We use Dynatrace across the organization. It handles all of our APM needs.
  • Ease of problem determination so the right people are involved in resolving the problem.
  • Ease of monitoring and baselining allowing us to know issues or potential issues before they happen.
  • Provide a full stack of executing code to help the application developer debug.
  • Allow for the developer to view how the software is executing for ANY timeframe (timeframes disappear on the pure path review screens for problem determination).
Dynatrace is well suited for allowing a big picture view to determine root-cause analysis. It is not so good if a developer would like to analyze their code for improvements or slowdowns that happen at various places in the stack, which may be unrelated to an issue.

We were having performance issues with one of our critical applications and decided to evaluate Dynatrace. The product fared well on technical and functional aspects. Dynatrace helped us identify various performance bottlenecks with the application. We were able to trace to the exact piece of code that was causing the maximum performance issues. We were also able to identify the issues with the application when used with various browsers. The pure path analysis is very helpful. The real user monitoring and session replays are essential to identifying the problem areas. The reporting done by business insights team is helpful each month.
The use of Dynatrace is being extended for several other applications in the company.
  • Proactively monitors for issues and emails
  • Real user monitoring and session replay functionality is extremely useful
  • Wish Network monitoring is also built into the product
Dynatrace's ability to perform real user monitoring and session replays is extremely useful. The ability to do location-based performance analysis is also useful. The ability to do error detection and pure path analysis with Dynatrace helps identify exact areas of concerns.

We manage the infrastructure side of support for our clients and monitor their servers and infrastructure and app by using the Dynatrace.
  • As far as my experience goes, it has a great monitoring module and a dashboard for each level of management
  • Application side of log level
  • Simplicity of use
  • Memory dump analysis
Today, applications are so complex and resource-intensive that we always get into debates over infrastructure issues vs. Application code issues. Dynatrace helps us find the bottlenecks and focus on fixing the issues the right way.

Dynatrace is less appropriate on the server side than SolarWinds.

Dynatrace is used by our organization across our consumer-facing applications in order to help us diagnose issues with the applications that may affect customers' ability to transact and use the product. We also use the service to monitor our services externally from the internet in order to ensure global availability.
  • Application performance management for Java apps
  • Container monitoring
  • Integration with AD
  • Ease of dashboarding for Synthetics
Dynatrace is great if you have custom-written applications that you are running in the cloud or on-premises. It helps provide insight into your applications, how they are used, and what your customers are experiencing. For monitoring externally, the service works well to help you see what your customers are seeing.

Dynatrace is being deployed to applications that are highly critical to our business. Based on the current deployment of Dynatrace, it has been able to help determine the user experience, mapping user journeys, and monitor user behavior. Dynatrace helps us know whether the application is being correctly used by the user or whether incorrect usage is driving negative application feedback.
  • Quick deployment and automated configuration
  • Lower operational maintenance overhead
  • Reporting
  • Analytics
Dynatrace is well suited for user-facing applications. It may not be as effective for applications such as Hadoop.

Dynatrace OneAgent is used for deep dive analysis of performance of the OpenShift environment. We are still using Appmon on traditional products as it works great. Dynatrace helps us identify performance and stability issues in complex environments. We will roll out Dynatrace in 2020 to the rest of the organization.
  • Ease of Installation
  • Level of Diagnostic details and technology coverage
  • Missing functionality from Appmon
  • Chat product support is not working well
We found that for cloud environments with micro services and container based deployments, Dynatrace shines as it provides details for both infrastructure and applications. Most tools just do one. Dynatrace is not very helpful on databases. We have not used it on mainframes, as there are existing tools that work well.

Dynatrace assists us with application performance, faults, and logging to provide a holistic view of our environment.
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Autonomous Baselining
  • Infrastructure Monitoring (SNMP)
  • Ease of agent deployment
Strengths of Dynatrace are application performance monitoring, analytics, root cause analysis, and the Davis (AI) engine.
Dynatrace has additional development to complete in the infrastructure monitoring space.

Dynatrace blankets our primary customer and investor portals. It provides critical operational support to the infrastructure and application teams in order to identify and resolve problems rapidly. Dynatrace also provides major business metrics that are reported and socialized across Senior Leadership and above.
  • Easy to manage and project license consumption/spend.
  • Dynatrace self-instruments services and it is lightning fast to onboard new hosts.
  • It can be challenging to teach others Dynatrace, as troubleshooting is the culmination of skills acquired over time, and mileage varies greatly among experience and skillset in a support department.
  • Guided AI assistant when doing tasks, such as dashboard creations, graph creation, alert creation.
Dynatrace is very well positioned as a the choice APM at most any web firm on the internet that has SLAs and is customer-focused. A little more UI polish would be a nice addition, more simplified and inline with their competitors - alas, Dynatrace is in its own league in the APM space.

We started to use Dynatrace to find problems in our environment regarding performance. After working with the solutions, we're able to prioritize the actions and decrease the response time for our customers and partners.
  • Cross Dashboard
  • Troubleshooting
  • Better RCA
  • UX reports
The solutions help us a lot in various scenarios. It's easy to implement and use. It took half a day to start to verify some bottlenecks in our environment and direct the team toward actions that will really impact positively our business. We could identify the user that should be impacted by the performance of our platform, and with the UX, we could verify the real reason for the experience and what we are looking for.

Dynatrace is being used as the primary problem finding tool within the IT department. Even our third party IT supplier has access to our Dynatrace instance for troubleshooting their own issues. It is also used to get information about the current state of the IT infrastructure through dashboarding. The Dynatrace UFO is a big help with this. Dynatrace is deployed on every business critical application across the organisation. It helps us understand our infrastructure and gives insight in the communication between applications.
  • Dashboarding
  • Insights
  • Expanding into security
  • Custom dashboarding
If you have multiple technologies running on different platforms doing automatic load balancing and resource management it is really helpful to give you a good insight in the current state of your IT infrastructure. Also integrating with other tools like ServiceNow or implementing keptn is a really helpful way to get up to speed and really help your IT department.

Dynatrace is being implemented in our company as a comprehensive system monitoring for both cloud-based and on-prem applications. It is currently planned to be used by IT only. We have many system monitoring tools, however, during a production issue, we had challenges to identify the root causes. We were looking for a system monitoring tool that can provide us the capability of integrated monitoring and give us the ability to deep drive into issues. Dynatrace offered us this capability. We are still new to determine all capabilities Dynatrace offered. So far, we are seeing promising capabilities of Dynatrace to serve our business needs.
  • Integrated monitoring
  • Root cause analysis
  • Provide detail of integration with other monitoring tools
  • Provide session replay capability for mobile devices
Dynatrace is very effective in root cause analysis. You will be able to identify the root cause of the issue more quickly and efficiently. This tool also will give you better ability to take proactive measures. The end to end monitoring capability of Dynatrace is really amazing. The future plan of Dynatrace is also promising. It is well-suited with new technologies.

We use Dynatrace for event management and digital user experience monitoring. We also use it to help identify problems before they become a large issue or outage. It helps that they have an office local in Detroit. Dynatrace is out central monitoring tool! Support and consulting are really great also.
  • Self discovery
  • Event management
  • Better dashboards
  • Email capabilities for dashboards via PDF
Great for monitoring customer-facing apps, like a website, and for correlating events - it's easy to integrate into Service Now for a single pane of glass. Dashboarding needs to be more robust as many departments want to see how their systems are doing at a glance. API is great which makes this a true platform for integration.

We use Dynatrace to monitor our in house developed software. We are currently managing a test and a production instance. We use the test environment to do the first load tests on our software, and Dynatrace shows exactly where we need some improvements.
Our development team has been helped a lot with the detailed feedback, which is coming from Dynatrace, we send them.
  • Performance dashboarding
  • Root cause pinpointing
  • Custom dashboards
  • Custom reporting
Well suited for web applications. With these, you get code insights and performance counters from within the applications. Real user monitoring helps a lot in solving user errors on the website and probably helps us improve application usability

Less appropriate for monitoring old applications developed in C++. This is a black box for Dynatrace, and you can only see some basic counters as CPU, memory, disk, and network.

[Dynatrace is being used] To support a complex legacy and cloud environment, mobile to mainframe. Current use is primarily with operation teams across application and I & O organization. Will be integrating with CICD pipelines.
  • Transaction trace - provides detailed, method level insight into business transactions and performance from UI through backend services and DBs.
  • AI - technology assistance in identifying both root cause and impact of issues in the company.
  • Full stack visibility - allows all in the organization to have clarity on operational health and transparency where issues exist.
  • Simplified integration to external data sources
Complex execution environments across modern and legacy technologies.

We currently use Dynatrace for infrastructure monitoring as well software monitoring. Davis (the AI) provides us with very quick details about the issue which allows us to resolve them as soon as possible. The automatic deployment and auto-discovery provided extremely granular details about each host (+4000).
  • Fantastic UI which makes use easier. Reduces the amount of time it takes in investigation.
  • Davis provides crucial information used to resolve issues.
  • API utilization is difficult to enter.
  • Metadata customization for OneAgent could use a more elegant solution for management.
Dynatrace is ideal for any environment with a higher level of complexity. Different hardware, software packages, and business functions typically mean lots of different software packages for management. Out of the box, Dynatrace can help with all of them. I can't really think of any environment that it wouldn't be helpful in.

We started our journey with Dynatrace recently. We are in the process of implementing Dynatrace. Our reason for going with Dynatrace is to have all the monitoring consolidated into one, for Cloud, infrastructure and applications. We struggle on the cloud monitoring, so I'm happy to hear the announcement today by Q2 2020 there will monitoring for all of Azure & AWS, yaii!
  • Application monitoring
We struggled with multiple tools to be used for monitoring the IT health. One of the key reasons for choosing Dynatrace is to have one tool which monitors Infrastructure, Cloud and applications, since we need all these elements monitored so that it can relate an incident where the issue is lying. This is why we chose Dynatrace.

It is being used mainly across the whole organization. The monitoring problem is solved with Dynatrace installation and automation. There is a great help from Dynatrace monitoring to identify problems as soon as they happen so a corrective and proactive action can be taken as soon as possible. Overall it is a great tool for my company.
  • Problems detection as soon as they happen.
  • Providing possible root cause of the problems.
  • Back tracking of service transactions to particular user sessions.
  • More AI in finding actual root cause of the problem.
Dynatrace OneAgent is well suited in almost all scenarios where application monitoring as well as infrastructure monitoring need to be implemented. It may not be appropriate if it is a very small application or small scale infrastructure to install Dynatrace OneAgent and setup all monitoring which may not be used.
