Intuitive User Interface: Users have consistently praised the intuitive and easy-to-operate user interface of the services. Many reviewers have stated that they found it simple to navigate through the system, making tasks easy to perform.

High Level of Customization: The Network Bandwidth Analyzer's level of customization has been highly valued by users. Numerous reviewers have expressed their appreciation for being able to create customized views, reports, and alerts tailored to their specific needs. This feature allows users to personalize the tool according to their requirements.

Detailed Bandwidth Information: The NetFlow Traffic Analyzer component has received praise for providing detailed information on bandwidth usage and capacity planning. Several users have described this feature as invaluable for forensic tasks. They appreciate having access to in-depth insights into network traffic, which helps them effectively manage and troubleshoot issues.

Confusing and Not Intuitive User Interface: Many users have found the user interface of the software to be confusing and not intuitive, making it difficult to navigate and perform tasks quickly. The lack of clear organization and unintuitive design elements has been a common frustration among reviewers.

Lack of Specific Packet Details: Customers have expressed a need for more specific packet details and additional information on web traffic. They desire more granular insights into individual packets, such as source/destination IP addresses, ports, protocols, and payload data. This level of detail would enable them to better analyze network traffic patterns and troubleshoot issues effectively.

Unintuitive Alerting Setup: Setting up alerting on bandwidth levels has proven to be unintuitive for users. It requires navigating through multiple menus and options, which can be time-consuming and confusing. Reviewers suggest streamlining the process by providing clearer instructions or a more intuitive interface specifically tailored for configuring alerts based on bandwidth thresholds.

SolarWinds is the only tool I've used for netflow traffic analyzing. I can't say that I've used any other types of products to even monitor our networks. SolarWinds has always been the tool I've used for any network insight needed from any organization. I am a huge fan of using this product over others that I can't compare anything else.

SolarWinds has a simplified design and visualization. Additionally, the discovery and management of devices along with graphical visualizations and report creation was a huge benefit for us on our network status. Support from SolarWinds has been phenomenal, we have utilized services from implementation through troubleshooting and general questions as to use and best practices.

SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer has more features compared to Wireshark and WhatsUp Gold.
Wireshark provided raw outputs while we were looking for intuitive graphical interface hence SolarWinds was preferred over Wireshark.
And WhatsUp Gold was good at monitoring networking infrastructure but we went ahead with SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer for the fact that it can analyse traffic patterns as an addition to all the WhatsUp Gold features.

There are not many tools in the market that provide a lot of info on networks that also integrate with other server related components like SAM, NCM, etc. SolarWinds NTA and all other modules need to embed a bit of AI into them which can give a lot more value than what it is doing now, however, that probably won't happen anytime soon.

Brocade network advisor was great but it was too vendor-specific. It gave us the ability to make software upgrades from one location. It also provided real-time information on interface utilization to see anomalies in the network traffic.

If you want to have a total view of your network and enterprise, it's a challenge to go with only a point solution. We've taken an approach that, while it feels sub-optimal in some ways, leverages multiple monitoring products to see the entire enterprise. Part of the issue that we face on a daily basis is that we make vendor choices, and those vendor choices have implications on our ability to monitor. For example, our core processing system and our online banking system are from two different vendors with two different architectures and two separate levels of system access. Sometimes we're forced to put in place what we can, rather than what we want. SolarWinds Netflow Traffic Analyzer is one of the suite of tools we use that helps us get closer to that total view.

We have tried to test other tools and the results have been very poor, our infrastructure is based on Cisco and the adaptability is formidable, it is not necessary to install accessories as in other tools and this makes a difference. We have tested other solutions but fail to surpass Netflow for the results that are required.

We haven't tried any other NTA products, this was the first one we tried and bought and still works for us after all these years. No need to look for anything else as far as I'm concerned.

So .. I still use Wireshark, but it can't even compare to Netflow. I went to the best of the best with SolarWinds out of the gate. Wireshark is just another utility I have used to gather traffic flows. SolarWinds puts all the data into a very understandable graph. The SolarWinds Netflow Traffic Analyzer is so much easier to use than Wireshark. I continue to be amazed at the amount of data that my organization pushes; Wireshark could never present me that kind of information!

The only product that was any real competition was ThousandEyes. I've used WUG in the past and wasn't impressed. With a significant investment into the Orion platform, leverage NTA data inside of our current environment made perfect sense. ThousandEyes offers some impressive features, but the price point was significantly higher than NTA and we could not make a financial argument for it.

ProTip: SolarWinds NPM includes probes that do hop-based latency monitoring called NetPath. ThousandEyes has similar probes -- but the probes from NPM are free whereas ThousandEyes charges (charged?) for them.

We found Network Bandwidth Analyzer to be superior to other competing applications in price and performance. Ease of operation and customization was also a factor in favor of Network Bandwidth Analyzer. The user community associated with SolarWinds was also a factor in our selection process. The Thwack community is very active and helpful in bringing a SolarWinds instance online and into production.

We used Nagios previously and also the Nagios Netflow Analyzer. It did a good job, but SolarWinds Network Traffic Analyzer is far superior and far more feature-rich in terms what you get. The planning it provides and alerting easily outweighs what Nagios Netflow can give. It is heavier in terms of deployment, but its understandable given the features.
