Overall Satisfaction with ADP Workforce Now
Workforce Now was implemented as a replacement for a PEO and to bring HR in-house. It was used for payroll, time and attendance, benefits administration, FSA, as 401K (which are all separate divisions of ADP). It was used exclusively for the W2 employees. It helped empower the employees with visibility into their payroll profile (including paystubs), the ability to update information, and have a dedicated team to answer questions they may have. While I still maintained high accessibility for the team and control over HR functions, having a number for employees to call with questions regarding their benefits was helpful. That freed me up to focus on higher-level functions.
Pros
- The implementation team is stellar. Transitioning to ADP did require work and meetings with them on my part, but they were responsive and knowledgeable. Professional and kind.
- Payroll is easily generated, and you have control over changes without a lot of red tape. The first time, you have someone to walk you through it to help alleviate any nervousness
- WorkforiceNow is easily navigable. If you can use the internet to shop, you can use Workforce Now. The user interface is intuitive and your dashboard is customizable to have your common links available to you.
Cons
- ADP has several solutions available a la carte that represent different business units with several sites for you to go to manage the separate solutions. In that regard, it is inefficient & not all navigable from one dashboard. Reporting is therefore fragmented.
- Because of the different business units, sometimes one service member will know nothing about another unit and will create a ticket to address the issue which creates a lag time.
- This is not an inexpensive solution.
- Workforce Now increased the employee's visibility into their professional profiles. That freed up time from HR and accounting to focus on other functions instead of looking up vacation balances, for example, which was surprisingly often.
The clarity of reporting was why I chose ADP - as well as the robustness of the employee portal & the mobile app. The payroll function is relatively standard, but we chose it for the level of control and flexibility it afforded, especially after coming out of a PEO solution where control is severely limited. We chose not to go with another PEO in order to keep control of those functions in-house and required a powerful, comprehensive tool with reporting ease in order to accomplish that transition. And it was less expensive than a PEO, by far.
