Overall Satisfaction with ADP Workforce Now

We use ADP Workforce Now for Human Resource management, payroll, time and attendance and recruiting. We have implemented workflow so it is used by our entire organization. ADP WFN allows us to have some confidence in our tax filings being done timely and accurately.
  • Time and attendance.
  • Keeping up with payroll tax updates.
  • Tax reports are stored in multiple locations and hard to find.
  • They make unneeded changes to things that were working great before.
  • We have less tax issues with ADP WFN.
  • With Workflow we have greatly decreased the workload on payroll and HR.
I have not received any in-person training. It is possible that this occurred during implementation before I worked here, however, I have not heard anyone mention it and have found that the people using ADP WFN before me did not have the appropriate knowledge needed to use the system correctly.

This is probably one of ADP's greatest weaknesses. Their ability to interface with other systems is very frustrating. The connections often break or have issues and it takes forever to get any movement on the issue. Setting up a new connection is extremely frustrating. It is as if the developer or person on the other end of the email only reads one issue out of a list of 20. This causes lost work time and lots of frustration for their client and that clients other vendor having to repeatedly test and then go back and say you only fixed one of the 20 issues. I know that this is an area that all payroll vendors struggle with, but I have found that ADP is more frustrating than others in this area.
ADP beats SAP for ease of use without a question. When it comes to Ultimate I prefer their ability to actually look at an employee's check and make corrections to ADP's batch setup, but ADP's reports are easier to utilize than Ultimate's. PeopleSoft is on a whole other playing field from ADP. PeopleSoft gives you much more control of everything from earnings codes and deductions to what is happening on the employee's paycheck. I would work on PeopleSoft in a heartbeat, however, the cost and upkeep are financially not possible for most companies. ADP makes a good alternative.
ADP WFN is great for basic payroll and HR functions. It is relatively easy to learn, however, if you want to get in-depth knowledge the training is lacking. They need to provide a manual of some sort. The system can be frustrating for those that may have worked on other platforms where you were able to see the details behind say and earnings code to determine taxability and or what "buckets" those earnings go into. For your average user, they will find the system works very well and your payroll account manager is there to help when you have something out of the ordinary.
