Overall Satisfaction with AlphaSense

We used AlphaSense to find quotes from analysts and other insights on competitors while consulting for a Canadian financial services firm. AlphaSense helped filter out irrelevant content and display results that best addressed the context we were looking for. AlphaSense was also used to find certain financial and growth figures a simple internet search wouldn't yield.
  • Filtering results
  • Variety of sources
  • Detailed search criteria
  • Results only went back 5 years
  • Filters were not always the most accurate
  • More intuitive user interface
  • Deeper competitive insights
  • Wider variety of research
  • Gained efficiency
AlphaSense was definitely one of the easier-to-navigate databases I have used (especially compared to Refinitiv). Right as I had created my account, a representative reached out to me and offered a tutorial on how to use AlphaSense, and also explained hidden/unique features, which I felt was quite helpful. The tutorial allowed me to customize my experience better. I didn't give it a perfect usability score, I couldn't always find what I was looking for, and sometimes the platform would be slow to load, but these issues are experienced everywhere.
AlphaSense has a unique feature where you can filter by a certain keyword and see how many times it was mentioned about a specific company over time. This feature was incredibly useful for gauging trends in the financial services industry and determining what topics are top-of-mind for analysts. It was certainly helpful for our team to understand exactly what is shifting in the financial services landscape.
AlphaSense has a much friendlier user interface and is a lot easier to use. This provided me with more efficiency in my research, and I was able to find crucial insights much quicker. AlphaSense also has more data insight abilities and features when compared to Refinitiv. However, I believe Refinitiv is a bigger database overall and has more content, especially content that dates back more years.

Do you think AlphaSense delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with AlphaSense's feature set?

Yes

Did AlphaSense live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of AlphaSense go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy AlphaSense again?

Yes

AlphaSense is most helpful when there is a certain quote you are looking for from a key executive, analyst, etc., or you are just looking for research on certain companies. I found AlphaSense less helpful when looking for numerical figures or values. In this case, I believe S&P or financial statements would've been more useful.
