Overall Satisfaction with Basecamp

We were collaborating with a US-based company for our marketing efforts and were using Basecamp as a collaborative tool to share various documents, meeting recordings, and discussions. We only use it for our department but considering its ease of use and utility, we have been pushing to get it in other departments too.
  • Document sharing
  • Discussion around Basecamp is great
  • Flat pricing seemed good, although it was the client that was paying for it
  • Reporting is not very comprehensive
  • The interface is slightly cluttered
  • Highly customizable features confuse the admin at times
  • It really saved a lot of time managing multiple discussions.
  • It helped in quick turnarounds thereby ensuring a higher eventual ROI.
  • Tracking individual tasks is very easy and hence their completion and results.
Asana has lots of features but no Gantt charts which is kind of the basis for a lot of work that we do. On the other hand, the campfire discussion here is an absolute innovation.

Trello is heavy on features but locks us to a certain view which may not be suitable for all the users.
We never had any issue while working with Basecamp and hence don't have much to say here. Having said that, although the knowledge base is pretty comprehensive, it could be rounded up a bit more to complete that circle of support. It is also ironic coming from an industry that is reliant on chatbots, but I am glad Basecamp uses humans over bots for support.

Do you think Basecamp delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Basecamp's feature set?

Yes

Did Basecamp live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Basecamp go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Basecamp again?

Yes

It is great for ad-hoc projects where you need quick collaborations and on the fly reporting and discussions but you need an admin to do the initial setup and handling. It may not be very suitable for comprehensive project management and collaboration and an absolute no-no if you need something for just the end-users.
